What’s Next? A follow-up to Strong Girl Nam-soon is Reportedly in Works
What’s next after Strong Girl Nam-soon? JTBC’ is presently in the process of developing the third instalment of the K-drama classic, Strong Girl series after ‘Strong Girl Bong Soon’ and ‘Strong Girl Nam Soon’, according to recent industry reports.
Insiders from the industry close to the makers of the Strong Girl series said that the follow-up to Strong Girl Nam Soon is reportedly in the works.
Yet, any further information regarding the cast and production is unavailable.
The first K-drama of the Strong Girl series, South Korean 2017 television series, ‘Strong Girl Bong-soon’ narrates the story of Do Bong-soon, a woman born with superhuman strength that comes from the long line of women possessing it. Actress Park Bo-young played the character of the lady with superhuman strength with actors Park Hyung-sik and Kim Ji-soo. It aired on JTBC from February 24 2017 and it became one the highest-rated Korean dramas in cable television history after becoming a commercial hit.
The second South Korean drama of the Strong Girl series, ‘Strong Girl Nam-soon’ unlike Strong Girl Bong-soon’, revolves around the love story of a strong woman, It follows a group of powerful women – a mother, a daughter, and a grand-daughter as they take on Gangnam’s biggest drug cartel. It was premiered on 7 October 2023. Actress Lee Yoo-mi plays the lead role alongside actors Kim Jung-eun, Kim Hae-sook, Ong Seong-wu and Byeon Woo-seok.
Six years after the release of the first part of the Strong Girl series, Strong Girl Nam Soon is currently making waves in the ratings, leading to discussions about a possible third season.
Both shows of JTBC are written by Baek Mi-kyung, who is popular for her works in iconic, including ‘Melting Me Softly’, ‘The Lady in Dignity’, ‘Miracle That We Met’, and ‘My Love Eun Dong’.
However, for those unaware, ‘Strong Girl Nam Soon’ is not a direct sequel to ‘Strong Girl Bong Soon’ since the storyline varies and does not continue with the Bong Soon generation line.
