Kakoa Entertainment is Dropping Clues about its Upcoming K-drama Wife of a 21st Century Prince, Featuring IU and Byeon Woo-seok
Kakao Entertainment broke the news of the upcoming MBC romance K-drama of IU and Byeon Woo-seak on 2 December 2024. Kakao Entertainment and MBC announced the drama’s working title as ‘Wife of a 21st Century Prince’, which will soon take the viewers to a royal romance set in a constitutional monarchy.
The show is expected to release in the second half of 2025.
Actor Byeon Woo-seak is teaming up with IU (Lee Ji-eun) after his fan-favourite drama ‘Lovely Runner’ on Netflix. The drama ‘Wife of a 21st Century Prince’ will show the transformation story of two lovers from different living backgrounds.

What will happen when people from contrasting living statuses fall in love with each other?
In the upcoming series, IU will be seen as Sung Hee-joo, the second daughter and the heiress of Korea’s biggest conglomerate. She leads a prosperous life and enjoys every privilege of a chaebol family member. However, the game starts when her status as a commoner brings trouble to her life when she aims for more in her life.
On the other hand, Byeon Woo-seok will appear as Lee Ahn, who lives in a contrasting background to that of Sung Hee-joo (IU). Being the second son of the King, he is a prince by his birth status. Nonetheless, he is far away from enjoying the life of a prince without money or power.
Sung Hee-joo’s and Lee Ahn’s accidental meeting and their friendship result in their lives’s transformation.
Previous Work of IU and Byeon Woo-seok Together
IU and Byeon Woo-seok have worked together in the historical drama ‘Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo,’ released in 2016. In the show, Lee Joon-gi, IU, and Kang Ha-neul played the lead roles, and Byeon Woo-seok played the role of the unfortunate ex-boyfriend of Go Ha-jin (IU).
