Synopsis
Hwang Woo-yeon is a mischievous young lad who isn’t interested in studying and frequently finds himself getting into brawls. However, things change when Seung-hee, a new transfer student arrives, catching the attention of every guy in the school. Woo-yeon finds himself drawn to her, and soon they become friends. They often spend their time roaming around by bunking their class, and sometimes they even sneak out to the beach to watch the sunset. Their friendship blossomed, and before long, they found themselves falling for each other. However, their happiness was short-lived as Seung-hee’s family problems forced her to move away, leaving Woo-yeon feeling lost and alone.
They met again in Seoul as college students, where Seung Hee had a boyfriend, but Woo-yeon still had feelings for her. When Woo-yeon discovers that Seung-hee’s boyfriend is cheating on her and tries to warn her about it, Seung-hee thinks he is just jealous of her boyfriend. Later, they lost contact when Woo-yeon joined the military.
After completing his military training, Woo-yeon spots Seung-hee while distributing flyers on the streets. He follows her to where she’s headed and they reconnect. At the time, Seung-hee is single and broke up with her boyfriend, while Woo Yeon is already in a relationship, but his heart still beats for Seung Hee. He becomes Seung Hee’s driver, accompanying her to photo shoots as she works as a model.

Finally, Woo-yeon confesses his feelings to Seung-hee, but she hesitates because he is already in a relationship. However, Woo-yeon decides to break up with his girlfriend and pursue Seung-hee. She accepts his feelings after he saves her from a falling debris during her shoot, and they fall deeply in love.
Their love takes a bitter turn when Seung-hee overhears Woo-yeon talking to his friend. He reveals that he regrets meeting Seung-hee again because he can’t find a job due to the injury he sustained from saving her. Seung-her feels hurt and betrayed and she can not accept Woo-yeon’s apology. She eventually decides to leave for Belgium to pursue her career.
As Seung-hee returns to Korea, she visits Woo-yeon at the school where he now works as a Physical Education teacher. She informs him that she met someone in Belgium and is getting married. Woo-yeon congratulates her and even requests for an invitation. However, upon receiving the invitation, he feels despondent and decides not to attend the wedding. He goes drinking and fishing with his friends instead.
On the day of the wedding, Woo-yeon decides to see Seung-hee one last time before the ceremony. He wants to tell her that meeting her was one of the best things that ever happened to him. She inspired him to work harder and achieve his goals. When he sees Seung-hee, he expresses his gratitude and tells her that he does not regret meeting her. Seung-hee reciprocates the feeling and thanks him for being there for her during her difficult times.
Message Conveyed by On Your Wedding Day
The film ‘On Your Wedding Day’ explores the theme of love and the complexities that come with it. Woo-yeon and Seung-hee’s love story is a classic example of a relationship that didn’t work out due to circumstances beyond their control. Despite their strong feelings for each other, their timing was always off, and they couldn’t be together.

The movie also portrays the idea that love isn’t always about possessing someone or being in a relationship with them, but also about appreciating them for who they are and the impact they have had on our lives. The ending scene where Woo-yeon leaves the wedding with teary eyes suggests that even though he has to let go of Seung-hee, his love for her will always remain in his heart. Ultimately, the film leaves us with the message that sometimes love is not about being with someone, but rather about cherishing the moments we shared with them and being grateful for their presence in our lives.
