Sensational Korean Drama, Squid Game Season 2 is Only a Few Months Away from its Release

Netflix is Back With its Chilling Series Squid Game Season 2, Promising Season 3 in 2025

The wait is over for the Squid Game fans!

Netflix announced the release of ‘Squid Game season 2’ on 26 December 2024. The announcement is followed by a teaser where it shows the running race of athletes on the track, but soon the race will be taken over by the steps of squid game players in green uniforms. As the players tumble down in the race, the Front Man with his gunmen appears, saying, “It’s been three years; do you want to play again?”

The initial season of the series was released on 17 September 2019. It is finally, after three years, that the second season has announced its release.

The first season ended with the anticipation of Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) returning back to the illegal gaming den to seek revenge. Since most of the players died in the first season, not many previous cast members other than Lee Jung-jae, Gong Yoo, Lee Byung-hun, and Wi Ha-joon are likely to appear in the second season.

Let’s wait to know whether Seong Gi-hun will be able to complete his revenge.

Besides the returning cast members, Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-geun will be featured in the second season.

A Look Back at Squid Game Season 1

A gambler named Seong Gi-hun is taken to a secret gaming spot where he has to compete with 455 other participants. All players, including Seong Gi-hun, who gathered to play the game, are indebted gamblers. The games that they have to play are old South Korean children’s games, but it soon turns into a survival game when the players who lose get killed by the guards. The highlight of the game is that after each death, â‚©100 million will be added to the prize money. Therefore, the players have to win each game to stay alive, as well as to win the huge sum of money.

Seong Gi-hun makes it out of the secret playground alive and rich. However, after surviving all the death games and witnessing the ruthless deaths of other players makes him realise the value of life. Therefore, he decides to return to the gaming spot to stop the games and seek revenge.

Anticipated Plot of Squid Game Season 2

Apart from the death games, the first season of the series also includes family drama.

Escaping the eyes of the guards, Hwang Jun-ho, a police officer, sneaks into the gaming spot to investigate the missing of his elder brother. However, his elder brother turns out to be the Front Man who supervises and controls the games. When Hwang Jun-ho gets caught by the guards, the Front Man comes forward to punish Jun-ho.

The punishments in the drama are no less than death. Therefore, after revealing himself, the Front Man shoots Jun-ho and throws him in the water.

Nonetheless, Jun-ho’s death is not confirmed in the first season, giving the viewers hope that he will come back to resolve the problems that happened in his family.

Let’s hold off for now till the release of ‘Squid Game season 2’ to know whether Hwang Jun-ho comes back for his brother and Seong Gi-hun will be able to complete his revenge.

In addition, the director of the show, Hwang Dong-hyuk, is also as excited as the Squid Game fans, and he said, “I’m thrilled to see the seed that was planted in creating a new Squid Game grow and bear fruit through the end of this story.”
