Biography of Luna
Park Sun-young is professionally popular by her stage name Luna, is a South Korean singer, musical actress and television presenter. In 2009, she debuted as a member of the girl group f(x).
She established herself as a notable musical actress with her performances in stage musicals like ‘Legally Blonde’, ‘Coyote Ugly’, ‘High School Musical on Stage!’, ‘School OZ Hologram Musical’, ‘In the Heights’, ‘Rebecca’, ‘Rudolf (The Last Kiss)’ and ‘Autant en emporte le vent (Gone with The Wind)’. Apart from being a popular artist, she has also starred in the film ‘The Lighting Man’s Secret’.
Luna debuted as a solo artist in 2016 with her extended play ‘Free Somebody’. In 2019, she left SM Entertainment and joined Humap Contents for her future solo activities. Early Life and Education
Luna was born on 12 August 1993 in Seoul, South Korea. She was born to a family of classical vocal singers. She has an older brother, and an older twin sister named Park Jin-young. She is the only member of her family not to major in classical music.
Career
In 2006, SM Entertainment recruited Luna after seeing her performance on the SBS television programme ‘Truth Game’. In 2019, she debuted as the main vocalist and lead dancer of the South Korean girl group f(x). Apart from being a celebrated artist, she has also made solo appearances. She was a regular member of ‘Star King’ for a long time and received a Newcomer Award from the SBS Entertainment Awards.
To increase public participation in the 2010 G-20 Seoul summit, she recorded the song ‘Let’s Go’ along with Sungmin, Seohyun and Jonghyun. Along with Super Junior’s Yesung, Luna released the duet titled ‘And I Love You’ for the soundtrack of the KBS2 drama ‘The President’. She released the solo single ‘Beautiful Day’ (OST) for the drama ‘Please Marry Me’.

She made her musical debut and took the role of the character Elle Woods in ‘Legally Blonde’, the South Korean production. She released the digital single ‘Don’t Cry For Me’ which is a remake of Lee Eun Ha’s hit song from 1986. She participated in the Anh Chi Hwan special for ‘Immortal Song 2’ showcasing her singing talents with her cover of the classic hit ‘Salt Doll’.
Luna was appointed as a fixed presenter of OnStyle TV’s ‘Get It Beauty’ programme in 2016. She released a collaborative single ‘Wave’ with Amber, R3hab, and Xavi&Gi as part of the SM Station project. On 31 May 2016, she made her solo debut with a mini album ‘Free Somebody; with 6 songs. She started her YouTube channel Luna’s Alphabet.
As a part of the SM Station, she released another collaborative single ‘Heartbeat’ with Amber featuring Ferry Corsten and Kago Pengchi. She collaborated with Shin Yong-jae to release ‘It’s You’, also as part of the SM Station project.

For SM Station’s final song of 2016, she collaborated with Yesung, Sunny, Red Velvet’s Seulgi and Wendy, NCT’s Taeil and Doyoung, and Lee Dong-woo, on ‘Sound of Your Heart’.
She appeared in the food variety show ‘Strong Girls’ with Park Bo-ram, Fiestar’s Cao Lu, Young-ji, and Giant Pink in 2017. For the show ‘Hitmaker’, she collaborated with Beast’s Junhyung, and Jeong Hyeong-don for the song ‘Tell Me It’s Okay’. Luna, EXID’s Hani, and Mamamoo’s Solar released the collaborative dance song ‘Honey Bee’ incorporating 808 bass and saxophone.
She starred in the 2017 performance of ‘Immortal Songs 2’s ‘Lunar New Year Family Special. Luna starred in the South Korean musical production of Rebecca. She released an OST for the drama ‘Good Bad Thief’, ‘Where Are You’.
Luna released the OST for the drama ‘The King in Love’, ‘Could You Tell Me’. She appeared in the musical ‘The Last Kiss’, also titled Rudolf in other countries. She played the character of Rudolf’s lover Mary Vetsera. She collaborated with the global version of the main track, ‘This is Me’ from the movie ‘The Greatest Showman’ with singers and influencers from 18 countries. A solo version of the same was released on YouTube.

On 5 January 2018, as a part of the SM Station project she released a collaborative single ‘Lower’ with Amber. The same year she collaborated with Heda, to re-release a duet version of ‘Free Somebody’. On 20 February 2018, she released an OST for the drama ‘Should We Kiss First?’.
After two years she came back with her debut mini-album ‘Free Somebody’. Luna released her new single featuring Yang Da-il, ‘Night Reminiscin’. Featuring the Korean-American singer Johan Kim, she released the single titled ‘Even So’.
In 2019 after the completion of her contract with SM Entertainment, she signed with Humap Contents. She voiced the character Luna Snow for the mobile game ‘Marvel Super War’ by NetEase and Marvel Entertainment. On 24 February 2021, Luna established her own entertainment agency called Grida Entertainment. She released a new single titled ‘Madonna’. She portrayed the lead role of MwE in the Broadway musical KPOP in 2022.
