Plot
‘The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract’ tells the story of Park Yeon-woo (Lee Se-young), a Joseon-Confucian girl. In the 19th century, on the night of her wedding day, a disaster strikes and her bridegroom tells her that Park Yeon-woo’s husband was secretly suffering from a devastating heart condition for a long time and he died shortly after. The death of her husband devastated her and things went from bad to worse when she was kidnapped by a man and thrown into a well shaft to her doom.
However, the well turns out to be a portal that lets her travel through 19th-century Joseon to the present day, landing in a swimming pool. The moment she opened her eyes, she saw her husband in front of her. Transcending space, time and death, she is now in present-day Seoul, South Korea. Park Yeon-woo is saved from a watery death by a man named Kang Tae-ha (Bae In-hyuk). Kang Tae-ha looks a lot like her dead husband from the 19th century.Â
Kang Tae-ha is the heir to a powerful conglomerate SH Seoul Corporation and he is a reserved personality who prioritizes logic over emotions because of a childhood trauma and his heart disease. The story takes a turn when Kang Tae-ha’s rich grandfather addresses a wish to see his grandson’s marriage before he dies. In the hopes of making his grandfather’s wish come true, Kang Tae-ha asks Park Yeon-woo to enter into a contract marriage with him.
Cast
Based on the Webtoon of the same title, the show is a captivating time-slip romance K-drama with an intriguing cast: Lee Se-young takes on the lead role of Park Yeon-woo, a girl from the Joseon Dynasty who suddenly finds herself in present-day Seoul, South Korea enduring a series of interesting twists. The series marks her latest Korean drama after her special appearance as a cinema employee in the South Korean film ‘Seoul Vibe‘.
Bae In-hyuk takes on the lead role of Kang Tae-ha, Bae In-hyuk’s portrayal of Kang Tae-ha is indeed a noticeable departure from his previous role in South Korean movies ‘Under the Queen’s Umbrella‘. Joo Hyun-young brilliantly brings the character of Sa-wol to life. Sa-wol is a talkative and reckless girl with a good sense of humour. She serves as Yeon-woo’s handmaid and best friend.
Yoo Seon-ho takes on the role of Kang Tae-min. Yoo Seon-ho is well-known for his diverse roles in various South Korean dramas including the TVN historical drama ‘Under the Queen’s Umbrella’ along with Bae In-hyuk, which was broadcast in October 2022. As a jovial and fun-loving half-brother of Kang Tae-ha and the third-generation heir of a Korean chaebol, he is ready to capture the hearts of viewers.
