Finally, Sweet Home Season 2 is Making its Release

A piece of partying news for the horror thriller K-drama fans, Sweet Home Season 2 is releasing soon! Another good news is that drama makers and Netflix will not make you wait too long for the third season. After the release of the first season, Netflix announced the release of the second and third seasons of the television series in June 2022.

After putting the excitement of the fans on hold for apparently two years, Sweet Home 2 is making its release by the end of 2023 mostly on December 1st. The announcement came with a teaser, keeping the fans at the tip of their excitement. Song Kang and Lee Si-young are expected to star in the lead roles in the second season. Furthermore, other popular stars are added to the main cast this time.

The Webtoon Sweet Home

The television series Sweet Home was inspired from the famous Never webtoon, Sweet Home, written by Kim Carnby and illustrated by Hwang Young.

The webtoon was streamed from 12 October 2017 to 2 July 2020. It has a prologue and 140 chapters. The webtoon Sweet Home is the second work of Kim Carnby and Hwang Young together. It was critically acclaimed and widely recognised by the webtoon fans. The story of the webtoon revolves around a high school student who moves out of his house and starts to live an independent life in an apartment. Unfortunately, the suicidal boy is welcomed by horrifying monsters and ghosts in the apartment, and the webtoon shows his plight to survive along with his fellow residents in the apartment building.

How the Webtoon Developed into a Korean TV Series

The directors Lee Eung-bok, Jang Young-woo, and Park So-hyun developed the plot of the webtoon into a television series based on the screenplay written by Hong So-ri, Kim Hyung-min, and Park So-jung. On 18 December 2020, Netflix streamed the first season of Sweet Home, starring Song Kang, Lee Jin-wook, and Lee Si-young. The first season has 10 episodes.

In the first season, Cha Hyun-soo (Song Kang), the high school boy, moves to an apartment due to family reasons. After spending a few nights in the apartment, he steps into the dream-like reality that his apartment building is ruled by monsters and the residents are actually hiding from the attacks of the monsters.

Ending the wait of the K-drama fans, Netflix officially announced the second season of Sweet Home will be streamed from 1 December 2023. In the beginning of 2023, Netflix announced the K-drama fans to expect the second season between October and November of 2023.

The first season still has unsolved puzzles to resolve, and the first teaser of Sweet Home 2 has already created a wave among horror thriller K-drama fans. The first season ends with the death of Eun-hyeok and the destruction of the apartment building, keeping Hyun-soo safe and alive in his military-armoured vehicle.

Director Lee Eung-bok has promised the fans that Sweet Home 2 will be a better K-drama experience than the previous one. This time, fans can expect the K-drama in a new setting with refined technical features. Also, the story of the second season will be more centred on the webtoon Sweet Home. In the first season, few deviations were made from the source material.

According to the current information, Song Kang, Lee Jin-wook, Lee Si-Young, Park Gyu-young, and Go Min-si will continue their roles in season two. Additionally, the senior Korean actor Yoo Oh-sung as Tak In-hwan – the leader of a special force, Oh Jung-se as Lim a vaccine researcher and a doctor, Kim Moo-yeol and Jung Jin-young as soldiers in the special force will be seen in the second season.

However, it is pretty certain that we will not see Lee Do-hyun as Lee Eun-hyuk after the tragedy that happened in the first season. Stay tuned and never miss the release of Sweet Home 2.
