Biography of Seo Hyun-jin 

Renowned model, singer and actor Seo Hyun-jin is a young and multi-talented celebrity in South Korea. Hyun-jin, who debuted her career as a vocalist, also established herself in acting with numerous roles in television series and films. Early Life and Education

Seo Hyun-jin was born on 27 February 1985 in Seoul, South Korea. There is hardly any information about her childhood, family background and school education. Hyun-jin, who always dreamed of being a musician, enrolled at Dongduk Women’s University and graduated in applied musicology.

Career

The immensely talented actor, Seo Hyun-jin, was scouted by the South Korean entertainment company SM Entertainment in her teenage years. Hyun-jin debuted as a lead vocalist of a South Korean K-pop girl group, MILK (Made In Lovely Kin) on 17 December 2001, with its first released studio album, ‘With Freshness’. The song, ‘Angel Eyes’ from the album, ‘Winter Vacation in SM Town’ in 2001 and ‘My Angel, My Light’ from ‘Winter Vacation in SM Town’ in 2002 were the other two collaborations of the MILK. However, the four-member girl group was disbanded in 2003, following the departure of one of its members, Bae Yu-mi. Other group members were Park Hee-von, Kim Bo-mi and Hyun-jin.

After the disappearance of the South Korean K-pop girl group MILK, Hyun-jin continued as a solo artist. She released four solo tracks, contributed songs to SM Town compilations and did some OSTs.

Hyun-jin’s career took a fortunate turn in 2006, as she received an opportunity to perform on-stage in the musical ‘The Sound of Music’.

Seo Hyun-jin made her acting debut in 2006, with a South Korean romance film, ‘Love Me Not’, directed by Lee Cheol-ha, starring Moon Geun-young and Kim Joo-hyuk in the lead roles. Hyun-jin appeared in a supporting role in the same year as Jung Ka-eun in the popular historical Korean series, ‘Hwang Jini’.

The ensuing years witnessed Seo Hyun-jin playing supporting roles in a number of South Korean films and television dramas. These include Korea’s first interactive movie, ‘Story of Wine’ by Lee Cheol-ha, the film, ‘Dating on Earth’ and a television series, ‘HIT’ by Yoo Chul-yong and Kim Young-min.

Hyun-jin made her first leading television appearance in a feature film, ‘Magic’ in 2010. The film, based on the love and friendship between young musicians at a musical school, is the directorial debut of the talented South Korean actress, singer-songwriter, director and artist Ku Hye-seon. To give a soul to Seo Hyun-jin’s role in the film as the main protagonist Ji-eun, she even made an effort to take piano classes.

The gifted actor Hyun-jin drew attention as an actor through a television historical drama series, ‘The Duo’ in 2011. She starred in the drama along with Chun Jung-myung, Lee Sang-yoon and Han Ji-hye. The 32-episode series received several solid ratings in its run.

In 2018, Hyun-jin was seen in two television series, ‘Let’s Eat 3’, as a cameo and as a top actress Han Se-gye in the series, ‘The Beauty Inside’. She was cast in a short film, ‘Mystery Pink’ in the same year as Ju-eun.
Hyun-jin played the role of Go Ha-neul in the 2019-2020 South Korean television series, ‘Black Dog: Being A Teacher’, starring alongside Ra Mi-ran and Ha Jun. In 2020, she made a cameo appearance in the series, ‘Record of Youth’, which narrates the lives of three young people in the contemporary fashion industry who strive to fulfil their dreams and love without any hope.

In the 2021 South Korean television series, ‘You Are My Spring’, directed by Jung Ji-hyun, Seo Hyun-jin played the role of a 34-year-old hotel concierge manager. She was in the series with actors Kim Dong-wook, Yoon Park and Nam Gyu-ri.

The South Korean television series ‘Why Her’ in 2022, directed by Park Soo-jin is the latest project of the astounding actor Seo Hyun-jin. In the series, she was cast in the titular role of Oh Soo-jae. The drama also featured Hwang In-youp and Huh Joon-ho in pivotal roles.

As of 2023, the latest film in which Seo Hyun-jin appeared is ‘Cassiopeia’ by Shin Yeon-shick. She starred in the film together with Ahn Sung-ki and Joo Ye-rim. She played the role of Su-jin, who is a lawyer but loses all her memories due to Alzheimer’s disease.
