Early Life and Education
Rain was born on June 25, 1985. His career began when he debuted with the boy group ‘Fanclub’ in 2002. His career graph was heightened as he debuted in the solo album ‘Bad Guy’ in 2005. Very quickly he became one of the most successful Korean artists in the industry. This has gained him the name ‘king of pop’ as well.
Rain has not only developed a successful career in music, but he also has a well-developed career in acting as well. His acting career began with a small role in the drama ‘Sang Doo! Let’s Go to School’. Since then he has performed in many popular dramas such as ‘Full House’, ‘A Love To Kill’, ‘Ninja Assassin’ and ‘The Prince’.He completed his schooling at Gwangmyeong High School in Seoul, South Korea. He did not pay much attention to his education after that, as he concentrated more on his career.

When Rain was sixteen, he debuted as a member of the boy group ‘Fanclub’. Even though he debuted as a member of this group, Rain gained fame through his solo debut. Rain’s debut album was ‘Bad Guy’ and it was released in 2002. This album was a commercial success and it established Rain as a rising star in the Korean music industry.
Rain released his third album ‘How to avoid the Sun’ in 2003. This was a chart-topper in Korea and it was after this album that rain became one of the most popular solo artists in the country. The third album of Rain was titled ‘It’s Raining’ which came out in 2004. It was with this album that Rain marked a transition to a more dance-focused sound. This album was a critical and commercial success.
In the album ‘Rain’s Coming’, he collaborated with American hip-hop artist Omarion and Korean-American singer Christina Lee. In 2008, Rain had the opportunity to perform at the Closing Ceremony of the Beijing Olympics. This heightened his fame to an international level. One of his albums ‘Rainism’ was a big success in Korea and other parts of Asia as well.
In 2016, he began his ‘The Squall Tour’, which had stops in Japan, China, and other parts of Asia. This tour was a big success and it increased Rain’s popularity to a global level. These are the major albums that widened the popularity of Rain as a K-pop performer.
Acting Career
In 2017, he made his comeback in the Korean industry with the album ‘My Life’. This was a hit in the industry.

Rain has not been involved in any controversies regarding his personal life. In January 2013, he confirmed that he was dating actress Kim Tae-hee. In 2014 he was baptized and converted to the same religion as of Kim Tae-hee and he received the name, Michael. Both of them got married on January 19, 2017, after five years of dating. Their first daughter was born on October 25, 2017, and in October 2019 they welcomed their second child.
