Significance of the Drama ‘My Youth’ in Song Joong-ki’s Career
Details of the drama, such as the role that Joong-ki handles, his background in the drama, and other cast members, are not yet revealed. If negotiations go well and Joong-ki agrees to take up the role, ‘My Youth’ will become a landmark in his career. In addition to Joong-ki’s comeback to the small screen after two years, ‘My Youth’ will also become the first K-drama that he committed to after becoming a father.
Song Joong-ki’s Drama Activities Before the Small Screen Hiatus
The drama that he acted in before going on the hiatus was ‘Reborn Rich’ directed by Jeong Dae-yun. ‘Reborn Rich’ is a fantasy political drama starring Song Joong-ki, Lee Sung-min, Shin Hyun-been, and Kim Kang-hoon. The drama was released on 18 November 2022. The screenplay for the drama was co-written by Kim Tae-hee and Jang Eun-jae. The drama has received several awards in different categories at different award ceremonies.
Therefore, the fans are excited to watch their favourite star, Song Joong-ki, in a new role in the new K-drama. Giving more hope, the drama is penned by Park Si-hyun, the hands behind the JTBC drama ‘Run On’. ‘Run On’ is a romantic drama released on 16 December 2020 containing 16 episodes. Song Joong-ki fans have two other surprises in 2024. He has committed to two movies and the two will make their release this year. The movie ‘My Name is Loh Kiwan’ directed by Kim Hee-jin will be released on 1 March 2024. The movie features Song Joong-ki and Choi Sung-eun in the lead roles. Joong-ki appears as Loh Ki-wan, a defector from North Korea who tries to get into the refugee list of the Belgium government. He meets a girl from South Korea named Mari (Choi Sung-eun), who has already received citizenship in the foreign country. The movie tells about the romantic relationship and the challenges of the couple in the foreign land.
The other movie of Joong-ki, which will be released in 2024, is ‘Bogota: City of the Lost’. The exact release date of the movie has not been announced yet. It is a crime thriller directed by Kim Seong-je. The main cast includes Song Joong-ki, Lee Hee-joon, and Kwon Hae-hyo. The story of ‘Bogota: City of the Lost’ revolves around the survival struggle of a group of immigrants.
