Early Life and Education
Ahn Jae-hyun was born on 1 July 1987 in the South Korean national capital Seoul. He was a silent kid for most of his childhood whereas his siblings were always creating a stir in the house. During his childhood, he liked to cook rather than play outside with his friends.
Jae-hyun was not a child who was interested in academics. However, he scored great marks in school leaving him with a sharp intellect image among friends and teachers. During his high school education, he opted for cooking classes and later enrolled in the music academy. Fashion classes in his third-year degree made him create an interest in modelling. In between his parents sent him to study business administration and once done with that, he focused on modelling and signed up with the ESteem Modelling agency.
Ahn Jae-hyun started his entertainment career in 2009 as a model. He had a pretty good modelling career and appeared in magazines, and television commercials and also received several awards from the modelling industry.
In 2011, he made his entry into the acting industry with a very small role as a delivery man in a television series, ‘High Society’. Although it was a small role, he was immediately recognised by many, leading him to receive opportunities in several music videos for artists, including K Will, Sistar19 and Baek A-yeon.
His first major role came in 2013 with the television series ‘My Love from Another Star’, starring actors Jun Ji-hyun, Kim Soo-hyun, Park Hae-jin, Yoo In-na and Shin Sung-rok.
2014 came with better roles for him, including a role in the South Korean television series, ‘You’re All Surrounded’, co-starring Lee Seung-gi, Cha Seung-won, Go Ara, Park Jung-min, Oh Yoon-ah, and Sung Ji-ru and also made his film debut in the same year with the webtoon film, ‘Fashion King’. In the same year, he was appointed as the MC for a weekly music programme, ‘M Countdown’.
Next year, Jae-hyun played a lead role in the 2015 South Korean television series, ‘Blood’, starring alongside Ji Jin-hee, Koo Hye-sun and Son Soo-hyun.
The same year he appeared in the two-episode fantasy drama, ‘Snow Lotus Flower’ alongside Lee Ji-ah.
He played a prominent role in the 2016 South Korean romantic comedy series, ‘Cinderella and the Four Knights’, directed by directed by Kwon Hyuk-chan and Lee Min-woo. He starred in this drama in the role of a chaebol and playboy competing for the main female lead’s heart alongside actors Park So-dam, Jung Il-woo, Lee Jung-shin, Choi Min, and Son Na-eun. His role in this series earned him the Top Excellence award for his performance.
Jae-hyun joined the travel reality show cast, ‘New Journey to the West’ replacing Lee Seung-gi when he enlisted for military service. In the same year, he acted alongside Taiwanese actress Ady An in the Chinese romantic film, ‘Perfect Imperfection’.
In 2017, he was cast as the second lead in the South Korean romance drama, ‘Reunited Worlds’, co-starring Yeo Jin-goo and Lee Yeon-hee.
Next year, he was cast in the romance melodrama, ‘The Beauty Inside’. After two years in 2019, Ahn Jae-hyun returned to the television screen in a lead role in the romantic comedy-drama,’ Love with Flaws’ starring opposite Oh Yeon-seo.
The 2023 South Korean television series, ‘The Real Has Come!’ starring Baek Jin-hee, Cha Joo-young, Jung Eui-jae and Ahn Jae-hyun in the lead roles is his latest drama as of 2023.
