Biography of Park Hae-jin
Early Life and Education
Park Hae-jin was born on 1 May 1983 in the Busan region of South Korea. His parents divorced when he was quite young. He completed his schooling at Choeup Middle School and Busan Information High School.
Hae-jin returned to his mother after 17 years of detached life. He graduated in Theatre from Seoul Arts College.
Career
One of the most highly skilled actors in South Korea, Hae-jin, made an absolutely fantastic kickstart to his acting career in 2006 with a perfect role in the KBS weekend television drama, ‘Famous Chil Princesses’. His perfect role in the series earned him recognition immediately, leading him to win for a household name in a short period of time. Park Hae-jin’s fantastic start won the Best New Actor award at the 43rd Baeksang Arts Awards for a particular role.
Meanwhile, Park Hae-jin, soon after his debut, acted in multiple projects. The prosperous actor utilised his initial acting career wisely and performed in films, dramas and variety shows for three consecutive years. Hae-jin played the lead role Jung Moo-young in the highly successful KBS daily television series, ‘Heaven & Earth’ in 2007 with the super-talented actor Han Hyo-joo. In 2008, he starred in the South Korean television series, ‘East of Eden’, starring actors Song Seung-heon, Yeon Jung-hoon, Lee Da-hae, Han Ji-hye, and Lee Yeon-hee in the lead roles, directed by Kim Jin-man and Choi Byeong-kil.
The South Korean film, ‘The Rhythm of Chopstick’, released on 28 October 2010 was the debut film of the versatile actor Park Hae-jin. He played a cameo appearance in the comedy-drama film, directed by Se-won Seo.
Park Hae-jin was cast in his first Chinese drama, ‘Qian Duo Duo Marry Remember’, directed by Wang Xiao Kang in 2011. However, the broadcast rights of the Chinese drama were sold to Japan after earning 1.5 billion views in two weeks.
Park Hae-jin appeared in a South Korean fantasy romantic comedy television series, ‘My Love from the Star’ in 2013 in the lead role of Lee Hee-kyung, directed by Jang Tae-yoo.
Next year, Park Hae-jin as Han Jae-joon, a 2014 South Korean medical drama television series, ‘Doctor Stranger’, starring Lee Jong-suk, Jin Se-yeon and Kang So-Ra. His popularity rose globally and as a result of his successful dramas in China, launched Park Hae-jin as a Hallyu star. By the end of 2014, the proficient actor also played a lead role in the South Korean crime thriller television drama, ‘Bad Guys’, with actors Kim Sang-joong, Ma Dong-seok, Jo Dong-hyuk and Kang Ye-won. His excellent performance in the series led him to earn the KDA Award at the 2015 Korea Drama Awards.
The breakthrough leading role of the amazing actor Park Hae-jin came in 2016, with the romantic comedy-drama, ‘Cheese In The Trap’, where he was cast in the role of a wealthy and popular university senior who possesses a dark side. Park Hae-jin starred in the film along with the co-actors Seo Kang Joon and Kim Go Eun. Soon after the success of the box-office hit series, ‘Cheese In The Trap’, his predominance skyrocketed. Later, he played the lead role in its film adaptation in 2018.
In addition to the great actor Park Hae-jin’s roles in South Korean television dramas and films, he has also starred in quite a few reality-variety shows, Chinese television series and web series. In the interim, the accomplished actor Park Hae-jin ended his contract with Mountain Movement after 12 years on 15 June 2022. He joined the Artist Company on 7 July 2022.

Military Life
Park Hae-jin was exempted from fulfilling his two-year military service in 2004 due to his struggles with depression and social anxiety disorder. As per South Korean military service law, those South Korean men who are suffering from mental illnesses, or receive treatment for at least six months, hospitalised for over a month are exempt from army duty.
In an interview, the South Korean actor Hae-jin disclosed that he had anxiety disorders ever since he was young and was continuously taking medications. The actor opened up on the intensity of his pain after reading the news and comments, rebuking him for avoiding army duty on purpose.
