Overview of Wish You
Director Seong Do-joon portrays a young gay romance in his movie ‘Wish You’. Kang In-soo and Yoon Sang-i work hard to make their passion into a successful career. On their lone journey, Yoon Sang-i meets him on a street singing. Yoon Sang-i’s boss makes it easy for Sang-i to know more about In-soo by hiring the busking singer in their company. When their friendship bond gets stronger, a new thirst for love sprouts in their hearts. The movie starring Kang In-soo and Lee Sang was released on 15 January 2021.

Synopsis
Yoon Sang-i is a hard-working part-time employee at a music company. One night, he walks through the streets listening to music to join the party arranged by the company staff. On his way, he sees someone busking in the street. The heartwarming music of the singer stops Sang-i and he takes the video of Kang In-soo singing in the streets and playing his guitar. The sight of In-soo singing and playing the guitar makes Sang-i feel butterflies in his belly.
Instead of joining the party, he sits outside the party building watching the video of In-soo singing. At that time, Sang-i’s madam Lee Yoo-jin comes outside and joins him. She asks Sang-i to share the music video. Impressed by In-soo’s talent, Lee Yoo-jin sent two people to In-soo to persuade him to join their music company. To assist Lee Yoo-jin in her initial solo project, she promotes Sang-i as her assistant.
On the other hand, Kang In-soo’s friend Choi Min-seong uploaded his music video on Youtube and claims himself as In-soo’s manager. Choi Min-seong is surprised to see the opportunity sprung for In-soo the very next day after uploading the video. In-soo accepts the offer and goes to meet Lee Yoo-jin with Choi Min-seong.
In the meeting, Lee Yoo-jin handovers the contract paper with the company rules. According to the rules, the company wants In-soo to use the accommodation provided by them. The second rule is to delete his personal social media accounts or to give the company full access to them. The third rule says the company takes 70 % of the profit and the fourth rule is to create music following the directions of the company.
In-soo accepts the rules but denies leaving his home. Therefore, Lee Yoo-jin entrusts Sang-i to stay with In-soo at his house.
Though Kang In-soo accepts the company rules, he storms out of the studio when he is asked to make diversions in his music. He has a unique perspective on music. Sang-i goes in search of him and finds him outside. That night, In-soo gets drunk with Choi Min-seong and Sang-i. After carrying In-soo to his house, Choi Min-seong tells Sang-i to take good care of In-soo and leaves the house.
The next day, Lee Yoo-jin tells Sang-i to resume the project, since the decision to make changes to the song is a plan made to test In-soo’s potential and perspective on music. Inspired by Sang-i’s music taste, In-soo works with him on his debut album. One day Sang-i takes him to his house. He is pleased to see Sang-i’s house and he takes In-soo to his favourite spot. In the middle of their conversation, Sang-i kisses him, which makes him leave Sang-i’s place immediately. The previous night’s incident creates a crack in their friendship.
Before the release of the album, the chairman of the company informs the team leader to drop the project. It then reveals the true identity of Kang In-soo, that he is the chairman’s son and he is fighting against his father with through passion. The order from the chairman prevents the team from proceeding further.
Frustrated by his father’s actions, In-soo leaves the office without telling anyone a word. Sang-i and Choi Min-seong go in search of him. Finally, In-soo appears in front of Sang-i’s house. At the end of the movie, he kisses Sang-i and takes him to a place where Choi Min-seong, Lee Yoo-jin and the producer meet up risking their job to make the two boys’ dream a reality.

Yoon Sang-i is a shy and introverted person working as a keyboardist in a music company. Sang-i feels especially nervous around Kang In-soo. Sang-i’s attitude towards In-soo reveals his romantic feelings. Though the movie is explicit about Sang-i’s sexual orientation, the movie holds In-soo’s feelings for Sang-i till the end. However, the film gives hints about In-soo’s feelings for Sang-i here and there in the story. Though In-soo is represented as a headstrong person, the first step towards their relationship is taken by Sang-i without timidness.
