Shin Hye-sun is a versatile face of the South Korean industry who captures hearts through her exceptional acting. She made her debut in the South Korean television series ‘School 2013’. After the success of the weekend drama ‘My Golden Life’ in 2007-08 she also starred in Korean dramas ‘Still 17’ (2018), ‘The Hymn of Death’ (2018), ‘Angel’s Last Mission: Love’ (2019), and ‘Mr. Queen’ (2020–2021).

Early Life and Education
She was born on 31 August 1989 in Seoul, South Korea to a warm and traditional family. She was raised as the youngest of the family with her parents and an elder sister. She attended the National High School of Traditional Korean Arts in Seoul and later enrolled herself at the private university, Sejong University majoring in Film Arts inspired by Won Bin’s performance in the drama ‘Autumn Tale’.
Although Hye-sun wished to become an actress way back in elementary school, she debuted much later in her early 20s. In her first audition, she even cut her hair so as to stand out and 2013 marked her debut in the industry.

2012–2016: Career Beginnings and Minor Roles
She debuted as an actress in 2012 with a minor role in the television series ‘School 2013’ and from then, she began to land much bigger roles in the 2015 television series ‘Oh My Ghost‘ and ‘She Was Pretty’. Apart from her movies and dramas, she also starred in the music video ‘Curious’ in 2013.
2016–2017: Breakthrough
Her breakthrough came in 2016 with the role of a gullible, naively romantic woman in the television series ‘Five Enough’. Then she portrayed her next role in a fantasy-romance drama ‘The Legend of the Blue Sea’ (2016-2017). In 2017, she played her first lead role in a mystery thriller film ‘A Day’.
Hye-sun went on to play a pivotal role in the critically acclaimed crime thriller series ‘Stranger’ in 2017. Soon after, she was cast in a lead role in KBS2’s ‘My Golden Life’ (2017) which was a great success with ratings exceeding 40%.

She co-starred with Lee Jong-suk in the SBS drama special ‘The Hymn of Death’ in 2018. Later in the same year, she acted in the SBS romance comedy drama ‘Still 17’. Her stunning acting as an aspiring violinist whose life was turned upside down by an accident garnered applause from fans.

In 2020, she was cast in her first lead role in the South Korean crime drama ‘Collectors’ with Lee Je-hoon. Her performance in this legal film received positive reviews and she was nominated for Best New Actress at the 41st Blue Dragon Film Awards. Later in the same year, she starred in the TVN hit television series ‘Mr. Queen’ and crime drama ‘Innocence’.
In 2021 she renewed her contract with YNK Entertainment and in 2023, she played the lead role in the South Korean television series ‘See You in My 19th Life’ together with Shin Hye-sun, Ahn Bo-hyun, Ha Yoon-kyung, and Ahn Dong-goo. Shin Hye-sun is set to play a lead role in the upcoming South Korean series ‘Welcome to Samdal-ri’ alongside Ji Chang-wook and Kang Young-seok on 2 December 2023.
