Lee Je-hoon is a versatile and internationally known South Korean actor, screenwriter, director, and performer. He rose to stardom when he made his acting debut in Indie films with his first leading role in 2010 in the Indie movie ‘Bleak Night’. He is also recognized for his charitable nature.
Early Life and Education
Lee Je-hoon was born on 4 July 1984 in the Hyoja-dong, South Korea. He was raised in the Jongno-gu district of Seoul. He belongs to a South Korean Asian family. He did not always dreamt of becoming an actor so he even went on to major in Biotechnology at Korea University Sejong Campus.
He realized his true potential and passion during his second year at Korea University and dropped out of Biotechnology to pursue his screen career. Later, he enrolled in the Drama and Acting Department at the Korea National University of Arts and eventually started participating in various short films and Indie projects.

Beginnings
In Je-hoon’s teenage years, his father bought him a videotape. Since then, he eventually developed his dream of becoming an actor even though his parents were initially against his decision. He worked on more than 18 Indie and short film projects alongside his academics. Some of his remarkable works are in a coming-of-age romantic short films are ‘Just Friends?’ (2009), the historical thriller ‘The Servant’ (2010), and the romantic film adaptation ‘Finding Mr. Destiny’ (2010).
Career Breakthrough
Je-hoon made his first foray into the film industry in a short film, ‘They Live by Night’ in 2007 and his career took out when he was cast in the role of a manipulative alpha male in a South Korean coming-of-age drama film, ‘Bleak Night’ in 2010 and a blockbuster war film, ‘The Front Line’ in 2011.
He appeared as a shy college student in the box-office hit romantic film, ‘Architecture 101’ in 2012 and gained substantial popularity among Korean entertainment fans. In the same year, he played a lead role in a South Korean television series, ‘Fashion King’. Following the detective role in ‘Phantom Detective’, he added the commercial hit fantasy crime drama, ‘Signal’ to his repertoire in 2016. In 2017, he was cast in a lead role in the television series, ‘Tomorrow, With You’, the Korean drama, ‘Anarchist from Colony’, and the Korean film, ‘Can Speak’.
He made a strong comeback in 2018 through an airport-themed melodrama, ‘Where Stars Land’ and Chae Soo-bin as his co-stars where they were designated as honorary ambassadors of Incheon International Airport.
In 2019, he filmed a travel reality program, ‘Traveller’ on JTBC and starred in ‘Tomb Robbery’. The action thriller film, ‘Time to Hunt’ of 2020 earned him the best actor nomination at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards. His performance in the heist caper story film, ‘Collectors’ is remarkable.
After making a special appearance in a Korean professional baseball team-based South Korean television series named, ‘Hot Stove League’ in 2020, Je-hoon joined the SBS drama, ‘Taxi Driver’ in 2021. He also appeared in a popular Netflix series, ‘Move to Heaven’ in 2021. Later in October 2022, his comeback was grand with a special role in the SBS drama, ‘One Dollar Lawyer’.
The second season of the SBS drama, ‘Taxi Driver’ set a new record for the highest ratings achieved so far in 2023 and Lee Je-hoon played one of the lead roles in ‘Taxi Driver’.
