Biography of Oh Se-hun
Oh Se-hun is a South Korean rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, model and dancer. He is commonly addressed as Sehun. He is a member of the South Korean-Chinese boy group ‘EXO’ formed by SM Entertainment in 2011.
They made their first debut in 2012 and the group consists of 9 members including Xiumin, Suho, Lay, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, D.O, Kai and Sehun. He is also a member of the spinoffs from ‘EXO’, like EXO-K and sub-unit EXO-SC. Aside from his participation in group activities, he also featured and starred in various dramas and films like ‘Secret Queen Makers’ (2018), ‘Now, We Are Breaking Up’ (2021) and ‘Dokgo Rewind’ (2018).

Music Career
At the age of 12, Sehun was scouted by the agent of SM Entertainment and was eventually cast into the agency in 2008 after four auditions. He was officially introduced as the fifth ‘EXO’ member on 10 January 2012. The group made their debut through the studio’s extended play ‘Mama’ on 9 April 2012. The EP won the Music Video of the Year at the 2012 SBS PopAsia Awards. Sehun received the ‘Weibo Star Award’ at the 5th ‘Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards’ in February 2016.
Sehun and Chanyeol debuted the group’s second sub-unit EXO-SC on June 28, 2019. They released their first EP ‘What a Life’, by SM Entertainment on 22 July 2019. The EP has six tracks with three singles. The EP won the Disc Bonsang at the 2020 Golden Disc Awards. He became the new brand spokesperson of Dr Jart+, China on 24 May 2019. With Sehun’s influence and popularity, Dr Jart+ had the highest sales during China’s mid-year shopping festival.
Sehun has released more songs with the boy band Exo than his solo releases. On 5 August 2013, Exo released their breakthrough single ‘Growl’ under SM Entertainment with over two million downloads in South Korea. Exo released their second single ‘Monster’ from their third studio album Ex’Act by SM Entertainment. The song was nominated for ‘Song of the Year’ at the 18th Mnet Asian Music Awards. Exo released the repackaged edition of their second studio album Love Me Right on 3 June 2015.
‘Love Me Right’ topped the Gaon Digital Chart and ranked number 3 on the Billboard World Digital Songs chart. On 13 December 2018, Exo released their repackaged edition of the ‘Love Shot’, the group’s fifth studio album. The song ranked 18 in the best K-pop dance of 2018 by SBS PopAsia.
Acting Career
He starred in the Korean romantic fantasy film ‘Catman’ along with Janice Wu and Song Weilong. The film was directed by Park Hee-gon and was released on 14 March 2021. He played the character titled Liang Qu, who is half human and half cat due to his magic spells. After the Korean Wave Restriction in China, ‘Catman’ was the first work to be released that had a South Korean star in the cast. Sehun starred in the main role in the South Korean-Chinese web drama ‘Dear Archimedes’.
The drama revolves around the story of the logician who lives in an isolated castle and tries to solve a cryptic code. He appeared in the South Korean romantic drama series ‘Now, We Are Breaking Up’, produced by Samhwa Networks and United Artists Agency. He played the character Hwang Chi-hyung as the new designer of the design team.
Sehun became the fixed cast member in the South Korean streaming television program on the Netflix variety show ‘Busted!’. The show consisted of prominent artists like Yoo Jae-suk, Ahn Jae-wook, Kim Jong-min, Lee Kwang-soo, Park Min-young, Kim Se-jeong and Seung-gi. The show premiered on 4 May 2018 and concluded on 22 January 2021. This is the first original program on Netflix with all Korean cast members.
Sehun starred in the 2018 action web series ‘Dokgo Rewind’ based on the webtoon of the same name. He acted along with Jo Byeong-kyu, Ahn Bo-hyun, Mina and the drama was a production of the Samhwa Networks. The series deals with serious high school troubles and how three boys from different social levels fight against it as a unified whole.
In 2018, Sehun was featured in the South Korean promotional web series ‘Secret Queen Makers’ which was produced by Lotte Duty-Free Shop. He along with fellow EXO member Chanyeol collaborated and released a single ‘We Young’ for SM Station X 0.
Sehun made his movie debut through the adventure action film ‘The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure’ which was released on 26 January 2022. The film was made available on Netflix on 2 March 2022. The film revolves around the plotline of a hidden royal treasure being explored by a group of pirates.
The film became the first Korean film to register 1 million viewers in 2022 within a week of its release. One of Sehun’s lead roles is in the upcoming drama ‘All That We Loved’ along with Cho Jun-young and Jang Yeo-bin. The drama demystifies the love triangle between the two best friends Go Yoo, Go Jun-hee and the transfer student Han So-yeon.

For the 22nd Anniversary of Vogue Korea, Sehun was featured as their cover and was the second South Korean male idol after G-Dragon. Along with William Chan, the Chinese singer and actor, he became the brand ambassador for the Italian luxury fashion house Zegna’s clothing line XXX.

His agency, S.M Entertainment denied the false rumours. The online posts were made to be deleted and the agency announced, strict legal actions would be taken on the spread of the false allegations.
