2007–2010: Beginnings

The actress made her debut in 2007 in the television series ‘Mackerel Run’ along with the new face of the industry Lee Min-ho and they both also appeared in the South Korean comedy-drama film ‘Our School’s E.T.’ in 2008. Her breakthrough is a period drama ‘Painter of the Wind’ in 2008. Her role as a beautiful gisaeng in Lee Jung-myung’s historical fiction novel drew global attention.

She was next cast in the South Korean television series ‘Brilliant Legacy’, one of the top-rated Korean dramas of 2009. After the success of the series, she performed in a supporting role in the television series ‘My Fair Lady’. In October 2010, she signed with talent agency Barunson Entertainment (MSTeam) followed by the leading role in the television series ‘It’s Okay, Daddy’s Girl’.

2011: Breakthrough

2011 marked her career breakthrough, with leading roles in the television period drama ‘The Princess’ Man’ and the action blockbuster ‘War of the Arrows’; both were commercial hits. She reunited with Lee Joon-gi in 2020 for a thriller melodrama ‘Flower of Evil‘.

In 2021, she joined the cast of the comedy film ‘No Kid’ and in November she signed with YNK Entertainment. Moon Chae-won appeared in Korea’s first audio drama ‘Floor’ in December 2021 alongside Lee Je-hoon and Jeong Jun-ha.

2023 witnessed her come back to the small screen with the SBS dramas ‘Payback’ and ‘Taxi Driver 2’.
