Synopsis
Do Hyun-soo, the son of alleged Yeonju City serial killer Do Min-seok (Choi Byung-mo) hides his true identity and has apparently been living as Baek Hee-sung. He works as a metal craftsman and lives a happy life with his wife Cha Ji-won (Moon Chae-won), a homicide detective. His shady past is a secret to everyone except his family.
Hee-sung and Ji-won appear to be an ideal couple happily living with their six-year-old daughter Baek Eun-ha (Jung Seo-yeon). However, Hee-sung’s family was not happy about his relationship with Ji-won.
Later, Cha Ji-won gets involved in an investigation, an attempt to murder a little boy named Kim In-seo (Kim Geon). Choi Jae-sub (Choi Young-joon), a police officer and Kim Moo-jin (Seo Hyun-woo), a journalist, also join Cha Ji-won.
Kim Moo-jin is more into the crime fiction genre and one day he introduces Cha Ji-won to the gruesome Yeonju murders committed by a serial killer around 18 years back and points out that he is also a metal craftsman. Their happy life starts to crumble when Ji-won notices changes in Hee-sung’s behaviour and she is confused if he could be hiding something from her.
Moo-jin has a past connection to Hee-sung and Hee-sung’s sister Do Hae-soo (Jang Hee-jin). One day Kim accidentally meets Baek Hee-sung and recognises that Hee-sung is none other than Do Hyun-su, who is accused of the murder of innocent victims and Yeonju village headman.
In search of the hidden truth and to reveal the real murderer, Ji-won often doubts whether Do Hyun-soo was actually a psychopath and helped his father to kill innocent people. While finding out the truth, she comes across the dark past and the trauma that her husband has been through since his childhood.
The drama takes even more dramatic twists when a twisted history is shown that reveals a person. He turns out to be the real Baek Hee-sung who accomplices Do Hyun-su’s father in all the crimes. It turns out that Do Hyun-su is not a criminal.
Ji-won genuinely accepts the painful fate of her husband and helps him to regain his identity. She and Do Hyun-su both then go along to protect their love and family life.
