Biography of Jungkook

Jeon Jung-kook, better known by his stage name Jungkook, is a member of the South Korean boy band ‘BTS’. He serves as the lead vocalist, dancer, and rapper of the group, which also includes Kim Taehyung, RM, Jimin, Jin, Suga, and J-Hope.

He joined BTS in 2013 and has become a popular figure among young audiences for his performances and charismatic personality. He is also known for his good looks and has gained a large fan following both in South Korea and other Asian countries. Additionally, many of his songs and videos have become huge hits.

Early Life and Education

Jeon Jung-kook, also known as Jungkook, was born in Busan, South Korea on 1 September 1997. He comes from a family of four including his parents and an elder brother. He initially attended Baekyang Elementary and Middle School in Busan and later transferred to Singu Middle School in Seoul. He initially had aspirations of becoming a badminton player, but after seeing ‘G-Dragon’ perform on television, he was inspired to become a singer.

In 2011, Jungkook auditioned for the South Korean talent show ‘Superstar K’, but was not selected. However, he received casting offers from several entertainment companies and eventually chose to become a trainee under ‘Big Hit Entertainment’ after seeing RM, the leader of ‘BTS’ perform. To improve his dance skills, he went to Los Angeles in the summer of 2012 to receive training from ‘Movement Lifestyle’. Career and Achievements

Jungkook made his debut as a member of BTS on 12 June 2013, with the release of the single ‘2 Cool 4 Skool’. He has three solo songs under BTS. The first, ‘Begin,’ a pop track from his 2016 album Wings, tells his story of moving to Seoul at a young age to become an idol and expresses gratitude to his bandmates for taking care of him during that time.

The second, song titled ‘Euphoria,’ was released on 5 April 2018, along with a nine-minute short film as the introduction to the third part of the BTS’ ‘Love Yourself’ series. The song peaked at number five on the ‘Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100′. Its full studio version was released as part of BTS’ ‘Love Yourself: Answer’ compilation album.

It peaked at number 84 on the ‘US Billboard Hot 100 chart’. ‘Euphoria’ and ‘My Time’ is the first and second longest charting solo tracks by a K-pop artist on the ‘Billboard World Digital Song Sales Chart’, with a record of 90 and 85 weeks respectively.

Aside from singing, Jungkook has also contributed to the production of two BTS songs ‘Love is Not Over’ and ‘Magic Shop’. He and his bandmates were awarded the fifth-class Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit by the South Korean President in October 2018.

In July 2021, he was appointed as ‘Special Presidential Envoy’ for ‘Future Generations and Culture’ along with his bandmates, with the goal of promoting sustainable growth and increasing South Korea’s diplomatic efforts and global standing in the international community.

Jungkook took part in the ‘One Dream, One Korea’ campaign in September 2015, collaborating on a song with other Korean artists in memory of the Korean War. The song was released on September 24 and performed on October 15 at the ‘One K Concert’ in Seoul. He was cast in the pilot episode of ‘Flower Crew’ the following year. He also appeared in ‘Celebrity Bromance’ and in ‘King of Mask Singer’ as ‘Fencing Man’ in episode 72.

At the ‘MBC Plus X Genie Music Awards’ on 6 November 2018, Jungkook and American artist Charlie Puth performed the song ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’ together. In February 2022, he sang the soundtrack for ‘7 Fates: Chakho’, a BTS-based webtoon, titled ‘Stay Alive’, produced by bandmate Suga. The song earned Jungkook his first solo entry on the ‘Billboard Hot 100’, debuting at number 95. It also became his first solo top-ten entry on the ‘Billboard Global Excl. U.S. Chart’ at number eight. Additionally, it became the first Korean soundtrack in history to debut on the ‘Official Singles Chart’ in the UK, at number 89. On 24 June he collaborated again with Puth, featuring on the single ‘Left and Right’.

On 20 November 2022, Jungkook released a single called ‘Dreamers’ and performed the song at the opening ceremony for the ‘2022 FIFA World Cup’ in Qatar. The song was included on the official soundtrack album for the tournament. During the event, he sang the song with Qatari singer Fahad Al Kubaisi at Al Bayt Stadium. He was the first Korean artist to sing an official theme song for the ‘World Cup’ at the opening ceremony of the event.
