Biography of Jisoo

Kim Ji-soo, best known by her stage name Jisoo, was born in South Korea on 3 January 1995. She is best known for being a part of BLACKPINK, the most successful K-pop girl group, which was founded by YG Entertainment in August 2016.

She made her acting debut in 2015’s series ‘The Producers’ and played her first lead role in the JTBC series ‘Snowdrop’ in addition to her music career. She launched her own YouTube channel, ‘Happy Jisoo 103%‘, on 3 January 2023, the day before her 28th birthday. She said the profit generated from her recently launched channel will be donated to charity.

Early Life and Education 

On 3 January 1995, Kim Ji-soo was born in Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. She has an older brother and a sister. She practised Taekwondo and played basketball when she was younger. She aspired to be an artist and writer. She adored the Korean boy band TVXQ.

She attended the School of Performing Arts Seoul for high school. In 11th grade, she joined the school’s drama club and gained more experience in the entertainment industry by attending auditions. She lived with her parents, siblings, and grandparents prior to her debut. She has learned Chinese, Japanese, and English in addition to her native Korean.

Career

Road To Fame and debut with BLACKPINK

Jisoo joined YG Entertainment as a trainee in 2011 after passing the auditions. She played a heartbroken girl in Epik High’s music video for ‘Spoiler + Happen Ending’ in October 2014. She played Bobby’s girlfriend in Hi Suhyun’s music video for ‘I’m Different’ the same year.

She appeared in the KBS2 drama ‘The Producers’ in 2015, alongside labelmates Sandara Park of 2NE1 and Kang Seung-yoon of Winner. With the release of their single album Square One on 8 August 2016, she made her debut as one of the four members of the girl group BLACKPINK, joining Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa.

In 2020, a marketing campaign featuring Korean pop singers Jisoo and others was said to have contributed to Dior’s increase in sales during the COVID-19 pandemic in South Korea. Throughout Paris Fashion Week, she was the public figure who generated the most media impact value, with four photos on her personal Instagram valued at $1.84 million. She was also Dior’s MIV’s top celebrity, contributing $15.7 million of the $39.1 million generated in total with just two posts.

During Dior’s Autumn/Winter 2022 fashion show at Paris Fashion Week in March, she created the social media post with the highest media impact value, with one image valued at $1.74 million. The KartRider Rush+ app’s ranking rose to 11th in March 2021 as a result of the announcement of a design partnership with Jisoo.
