Biography of Chanwoo

Jung Chan-woo widely known as Chanwoo and popular by the stage name Chan is a South Korean singer and actor. He is the maknae and a member of the South Korean group iKon under 143 Entertainment. He is well-known and distinguished for his roles in playing the younger counterparts of Lee Min-ho in both ‘Boys Over Flowers’ (2009) and ‘The Heirs’ (2013).

Early Life and Education

Chanwoo was born on 26 January 1998 in Songpa-gu, Seoul and raised in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. He appeared as the younger Max Changmin in the music video for TVXQ’s ‘Balloons’.

He has appeared in several drama series beginning with ‘The Great King Sejong’, ‘Lost and Found’ and more. He is notable for playing the role of the younger version of Lee Min-ho’s characters in both ‘Boys Over Flowers’ and ‘The Heirs’.

Career

Team A of the reality show ‘WIN: Who Is Next’ won and debuted as ‘Winner’ in 2013. While team B returned to training and appeared in another Mnet reality survival program ‘Mix & Match’. He’s the only member who was not a part of team B and was added in the later phase. The show resulted in the debut of the music band iKon, including Chanwoo as the seventh member.

The group made their official debut on 15 September 2015 with the pre-release digital single ‘My Type’. Later, leader B.I departed from the group in 2019 and it became a six member group with members Jay, Song, Bobby, DK, Ju-ne and Chan.

In 2018, Chanwoo started his YouTube channel named ‘Chan’s Life’. He starred in the supernatural romantic comdey ‘My Chilling Roomate’ (2022) along with Kim Se-jeong. The drama was directed by Hwang Kyu Seong and it unravels the horror and romance, seeking the truth and the lost memories.
