Synopsis

Kang Da-jeong (Seo Hyun-jin) grew up with an abusive father who would often beat up Da-jeong’s mother, Mun Mi-ran (Oh Hyun-kyung). Mun Mi-ran struggled and finally left her husband for the sake of her children, Kang Da-jeong and younger son, Kang Tae-jung (Kang Hoon). However, Da-jeong kept experiencing bad relationships as she grew up.

After a string of bad relationships, hotel concierge manager, Kang Da-jeong moved to the rooftop of the building owned by her friend’s father and there she met Joo Yeong-do (Kim Dong-wook), a kind-hearted psychiatrist whose clinic is on the floor right below her rooftop apartment.

A death case had occurred in the building and the psychiatrist, Joo Yeong-do helped the police in their investigation. There comes a suspicious figure Chae Joon (Yoon Park), CEO of an investment company. Chae Joon tries to win Kang Da-jeong’s heart but she rejects his proposal. However, she eventually gets touched by Chae Joon’s sincerity towards her.

When Kang Da-jeong develops feelings for Chae Joon, she receives shocking news that Chae Joon committed suicide and admitted himself as the murderer. She became traumatized but luckily had Joo Yeong-do for comfort. They both gradually become closer and share their secrets and inner fears.

Psychiatrist Yeong-do was once married to actress Ahn Ga-yeong (Nam Gyu-ri), whom Yeong-do married to treat her psychological illness and the couple divorced after one year of marriage.

Kang Da-jeong was slowly getting over the death of Chae Joon. Later, she met Dr. Ian Chase (Yoon Park), a surgeon from the US, who appeared at the hotel where Da-jeong works. To her surprise, Ian Chase looked identical to Chae Joon. Dr. Ian Chase became hostile as people around him started to observe him because of the uncanny resemblance.

Psychariast Yeong-do and a police detective were suspicious of Ian and his intentions. In fact, one police officer was stabbed while monitoring Ian’s movement. It was later revealed that Dr. Ian Chase was actually the twin brother of Chae Joon who was adopted to the US when he was younger.

Long ago, the twin brothers met Da-jeong at the church on the day Ian was adopted. They both treat Da-jeong differently during their respective meets, showing their distinct personalities.

When Ian Chase and Chae Joon were 17 years old, Ian headed to save Chae Joon from the abuse of his foster parents. Ian paid Hwang Jae-sik (Park Ki-duk) to kill Chae Joon’s foster parents. Hwang Jae-sik turned out as the real murderer and remained a shadow of Chae Joon solving the troubles caused by him. The murderer threatened Chae Joon to harm Da-jeong if he did not obey him. Finally, Chae Joon committed himself as the murderer and chose to end his life in order to protect Da-jeong.

Yeong-do is busy healing people who need mental support and his health suddenly gets worse due to heavy workload. He even had a heart transplant years ago. Although, Da-jeong and Yeong-do were briefly separated, finally they decide to remain by each other’s side.
