Synopsis

The story is told by mixing the events from the past and present. Sam-dal and Yong-pil were childhood sweethearts. Their stories began before they were born. Their mothers were close friends, and after marriage, they gave birth to Sam-dal and Yong-pil almost around the same time. They work as shell collectors in the sea. Therefore, they promise each other to take care of the other child if something happens to any one of them.

While growing up together, Yong-pil always stayed near Sam-dal in every situation. Later, their friendship grows into love. However, Yong-pil’s father does not like Sam-dal and her mother.

When Yong-pil was a child, it was Sam-dal’s mother who insisted on going to the sea to collect shells without considering the bad weather. Yong-pil’s mother accompanied her while the other workers hesitated, and on that day Yong-pil lost his mother. His father was in agony from that day on. However, Sam-dal’s mother starts taking care of Yong-pil like her own son.

To avoid any relationship with Sam-dal’s family, Yong-pil’s father confronts Sam-dal and forces her to break her relationship with Yong-pil. Thereafter, she leaves for Seoul with her siblings and blocks her contact with Yong-pil.

Sam-dal becomes a well-known fashion photographer in Seoul. She left Jeju Island, deciding that she would never return to that place again and meet Yong-pil or her other friends. Though she became prominent in her career, she was not on good terms with her assistant. Her assistant was extremely jealous of Sam-dal’s talent and fame. While Sam-dal flourishes in her career, the assistant takes out her jealousy by seducing her boyfriend. Sam-dal breaks up with her boyfriend after realising that he is cheating on her. She gets drunk after the assistant mocks her by saying that her boyfriend ditched Sam-dal for the assistant.

The next day Sam-dal wakes up by hearing the news of her assistant’s suicide attempt. Her statement against Sam-dal diminishes her prestige. The news leads to the withdrawal of numerous celebrity contracts with her.

After returning to Samdalri, Sam-dal meets Yong-pil and her other friends, though she does not plan to rekindle her friendship with them. To her surprise, her friends welcome her with warm hearts and show her their genuine love.

During her exile in Samdalri, Sam-dal is concerned about the things that are happening in Seoul because hate comments about her are piling up on social media. Though she tries to call her assistant, she does not pick up her call. She was stressed about the statement of her assistant that it was due to her that she attempted suicide.

In Seoul, her assistant plans to steal Sam-dal’s project. However, her loyal employees sent her the video of her assistant taking the project details from her office. Yong-pil, Sam-dal, and Sang-do travel to Seoul to confront her assistant. She tells Sam-dal that it was her evil plan to shatter the good life of Sam-dal. On her return journey, she feels a lot better.

At Samdalri, an exhibition organisation asks Sam-dal to take pictures of the island for the exhibition. After a break of eight years, she and Yong-pil visit the places where they used to go to take photographs.

As they rekindle their love, the fake news about Sam-dal settles down when her assistant’s wrongdoings become known to the public. She gets messages of comfort from her clients who blocked her due to the fabricated accusation. Also, she gains the confidence to confront Yong-pil’s father and tells him that she loves Yong-pil.
