Synopsis
Shin Joon-young (Kim Woo-bin) lives with his mother, and he is unaware of his father’s identity. One day, he comes to know that his father, who left them, is a famous prosecutor who is happily married and has another family.
Joon-young tries hard in his academics, as his mother always wanted him to become a prosecutor like his father. His childhood was indeed tough, and he ended up breaking up with his the then girlfriend.
Noh Eul (Bae Suzy) is the best friend of Shin Joon-young’s ex-girlfriend. After their breakup, Noh Eul confronts her best friend and tries to get back at Shin Joon-young, and they run across each other’s paths for the first time. They became friends, and the tragic love story slowly blossoms.
Noh Eul is a kind and jovial girl who lives with her younger brother and her father, who is a street food seller. The story takes a tragic turn when Noh Eul’s father dies in a hit-and-run car accident. The person who is liable for the accident is a famous politician, Yoon Jeong-eun’s daughter.
Jeong-eun bribed the prosecutor in charge, Choi Hyun-joon, to switch the driver, and he indicted towards another man instead of the real culprit. The case closed in Jeong-eun’s favour. However, Jeong-eun’s son, Choi Ji-tae (Lim Ju-hwan), caught up in the evil act his father succumbed to.
When Noh Eul ardently tries to find witnesses to bring justice to a corrupt situation, after her father’s tragic death, a huge loan debt reaches her, forcing Noh Eul to leave the city.
The politician’s son, Ji-tae, is burdened by the wrongdoings caused by his parents. A few years later, Joon-young again meets Noh Eul; meanwhile, Noh Eul gets some evidence to prove the truth behind her father’s death and to bring the culprits to light. She asks the prosecutor to uncover the truth. Shin Joon-young, who hears the conversation, tries to stop her from meeting him. Both Joon-young and Ji-tae attempt separately to shield Noh Eul from the evil acts of both their fathers.
Later, it is revealed that prosecutor Choi Hyun-joon is Shin Joon-young’s father, and Joon-young chose to be a filial son to his father, causing Noh Eul to almost lose her life. Joon-young feels guilty about hurting her and hiding secrets from her, so he gives up on becoming a prosecutor.
Ending Explained
As fate brings them together again, this time Shin Joon-young meets Noh Eul as an actor, and she approaches him for a documentary. Noh Eul convinced her producer that she could obtain his consent for the documentary shoot, but initially, Joon-young gave Noh Eul a hard time. However, he eventually agrees to take up the documentary. As they work together, he tries to fix their relationship and win her heart back.
Later, the popular actor Shin Joon-young is diagnosed with a terminal illness and is given only a few months to live. With his remaining time, he chose to spend it with Noh Eul, and the two of them embarked on a final road trip together. Joon-young dies in Noh Eul’s arms, leaving her to mourn his loss. The story ends with Noh Eul looking at a poster of him, kissing it, and saying her last words to him, “See you tomorrow, Shin Joon-young”.
