Seo Soo-jin, widely known by her stage name Soojin, is a South Korean singer and dancer. She is a former member of the South Korean girl group (G)I-DLE under Cube Entertainment. The girl group consists of five members: Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi, and Shuhua.
Early Life and Education
Soojin was born on March 9, 1998, in Gyeonggi, South Korea. She attended Waw Middle School in Hwaseong. From a young age, she learned jazz dance and taekwondo. She completed her education at Korean Arts High School. She always dreamed of pursuing a career in music, but her parents disagreed at first. It took her two years to convince her father to agree with her decisions.
Career
Soojin was a trainee at DN Entertainment. She was initially supposed to be a member of the South Korean girl group Vividiva, under her stage name N.Na. She participated in several performances and photoshoots with the group. In 2015, she discontinued the girl group.
In 2016, Seo Soo-jin became a trainee at Cube Entertainment. In 2017–2018, she appeared in Soyeon’s solo music videos for the songs ‘Jelly’ and ‘Idle Song’. She disguised herself as an unknown dancer wearing a mask.

She was revealed as a member of the girl group (G)I-DLE in 2018. She debuted on May 2, 2018, with the release of the group’s mini album ‘I Am’ and its lead single ‘Latata’. The girl group’s debut stage performance was on Mnet’s M Countdown.
In 2020, Seo Soo-jin and Minnie were paired together for Glance TV’s new fashion show, Minnie and Soojin’s ‘I’M THE TREND’. The duo had a styling battle for the title of Trend Centre, a combination of a trendsetter and an idol centre. The duo opened up, revealing their styling secrets, fashion outfits, shopping tips, and a video-pictorial fashion film. The show premiered on Naver Style TV.
On October 22, 2020, Seo Soo-jin was hospitalised for a sprained ankle that she sustained during choreography practice. She visited the hospital for an examination and treatment. She was not able to participate in the group’s 2020 LIVE in the DMZ and the 2020 K-Culture Festival.
Achievements
Soojin was the lead dancer, lead vocalist, and lead rapper. With the debut of the girl group, she shone for three years, leaving indelible marks in the music industry.

She was a beautiful and talented idol, completely perfect in both her skills and charm. She always impressed her audience with her flexible moves and attractive expressions. Before the bullying controversy, she was said to be HyunA’s successor and the new generation’s sexy queen. She was called ‘the next HyunA’ and was also considered a 4th generation fan cam queen. Her performances always overwhelmed her bandmates, and she owned 20 fancams with over 1 million views.
She had great potential to become the top idol of Generation 4. I hope she comes back someday in the future and re-debuts as a K-pop idol.
Personal Life
She halted all the activities following the allegations of bullying by former classmates on March 4, 2021. She left the agency, and the (G) I-DLE continued its activities as a five-member girl group.
