Biography of Seungyeon
Han Seungyeon popularly known as Seungyeon is a South Korean singer and actress. She is one of the best-known vocalists of the South Korean girl group Kara. She is known for her role in ‘Hello, My Twenties!’.
Early Life and Education
She was born on 24 July 1988 in Yeongdeungpo District, Seoul, South Korea. She made her acting debut as a child actress in a cameo role in ‘Dear Ends’ (1993), ‘Summer Showers’ (1995) and ‘Star in My Heart’ (1997). She later relocated to New Jersey, United States to study at Tenafly High School.

She left high school to pursue her career in singing and returned to South Korea. On 29 March 2007, she debuted as a member of the girl group Kara. While in the group, she passed a high school qualification exam and the College Scholastic Ability Test. She was accepted by Kyung Hee University, to the Department of Theatre and Film.
Career
Seungyeon featured on rapper Nassun’s single ‘Come to Play’ in 2009 and on the soundtrack for the movie ‘Why Did You Come to My House?’ (2009). Her first solo single was titled ‘Miracle’. In 2009, she became part of the ‘Dream Team Girl Group’ named 4Tomorrow. She was a part of Samsung’s campaign Samsung Anycall. In the digital single ‘Tomorrow’, Lee Dong-gun starred in the music video.
In 2010, she recorded the song ‘Super Star’ for the soundtrack of the KBS2 drama ‘Mary Stayed Out All Night’. Along with Kang Ji-young, she was the host for MBC Every1’s I Love Pet. For the soundtrack of the SBS drama ‘Warrior’ Baek Dong-soo, recorded the song ‘Because of Love’ in 2011. The same year she became the co-host of SBS’s ‘Animal Farm’.
She released her first solo single ‘Guilty’ on 30 November 2012. The performance of the single was staged on MBC’s Music Core. In 2013, she appeared as the protagonist’s younger counterpart in the daily drama ‘Pure Love’.

Her major acting role was in the period drama Jang Ok-jung, ‘Living by Love’ (2013). In 2014, she starred in the weekend drama ‘Jang Bo-ri is Here!’ Her first lead role was in the cable series ‘Her Lovely Heels’. From 2013 to 2014, Seungyeon and fellow member Park Gyu-ri served as hosts of the music program ‘The Show’.
In 2016, Kara was disbanded after Seungyeon, Park Gyuri and Goo Hara decided not to renew their contract. She later signed a contract with J Wide Company in the same year. Her other casting credits include ‘Bugs Attack’, ‘Hello, My Twenties!’ and ‘Frame in Love’.
In 2017, she starred in JTBC’s web drama Last ‘Minute Romance’. She was a part of the casting member of ‘Hello, My Twenties’ and ‘About Time’. In 2018, she switched over to Inyeon Entertainment. She was the lead role in the drama ‘Twelve Nights’.

In 2020, she signed with the new agency YGX Entertainment. She appeared in the comedy horror film ‘Show Me the Ghost’. She won the Fantastic Actor Jury’s Special Mention Award for performing at the 25th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival.
