Synopsis

Kang Ji-won is suffering from terminal cancer. Since her disease was diagnosed in the fourth stage, it has transformed into an incurable disease. She married Park Min-hwan in 2013, who was also her colleague. However, after the diagnosis of the cancer, he starts to ignore her and avoids paying her hospital bills. Ji-won shares her doubts about her husband cheating on her with her best friend Jeong Su-min. It is Su-min who supports and takes care of Ji-won.

Ji-won is a hard-working employee who works in a prestigious food company. However, her married life is a disaster since she can not give birth to Min-hwan’s child. Min-hwan and his mother always blame her for this matter. Taking the opportunity, Min-hwan quits his job unannounced, putting all the responsibilities on Ji-won.

One day Ji-won’s doctor informs her about the hospital bill that is due. Since Min-hwan does not respond to her calls and messages, she decides to visit him at their house. When she steps out of the hospital, a taxi comes to pick her up. The taxi driver starts a friendly chat with her and takes her through an alternative path covered in cherry blossoms to her house. Before leaving, he gives her a 100 won note with a blue heart tattoo on it as a gift.

At home, she finds Min-hwan and Su-min in bed discussing their plans together after her death. An angry Ji-won picks a fight with them and accidentally dies by hitting her head on the coffee table when Min-hwan pushes her away.

The real story starts after Ji-won’s death.

After the incident at her home, Ji-won finds herself standing in her office. She time travels to 2013, the time when she was in a romantic relationship with Min-hwan. Su-min is still with her as her best friend. The sudden and unexpected time travel makes her behave oddly at the office when she sees Min-hwan and Su-min.

While she adjusts to the new environment that she already lived, she decides to change her tragic fate. Through her experiment, she realises that she cannot prevent things from happening, but she can divert its direction so that it will happen to someone else. Thereby she can prevent her marriage with Min-hwan, escape from cancer, and prevent her untimely death.

In her second chance, she starts to notice the people who have genuinely cared for her. She becomes more friendly with Yoo Ji-hyuk and Yang Ju-ran.

Yoo Ji-hyuk is the manager at Ji-won’s company who has shown attention to her in her past. However, she has not gotten enough opportunities to befriend him. This time, she starts to notice his helpful presence around her whenever she is in trouble. Likewise, Yang Ju-ran is another employee at her office who cared for her.

However, like Ji-won, Ji-hyuk dies in a car accident on his way back home after attending the funeral of Ji-won. He is sent to 2013 to help Ji-won rewrite her story and live a happy life. Before his death, he realised that Ji-won died because of Su-min and Min-hwan. After his death, he time travels to 2013. He has had a crush on Ji-won ever since.

In 2013, Ji-won undergoes a total transformation with the help of Yoo Hui-yeon, her new friend. Yoo Hui-yeon is the half-sister of Ji-hyuk, and she also works in the same company. Yoo Hui-yeon’s and Ji-hyuk’s relationship is not explicit in the office. Therefore, it leads to many misunderstandings among the employees, including Ji-won.

Min-hwan and Su-min become irritated about Ji-won’s new friendship with others. On the flip side, Ji-won starts encouraging Min-hwan and Su-min to start a romantic relationship by creating incidents that will give them time to spend together. She thinks that by doing so, she can transfer her fate to Su-min. That way, she can take her revenge on Su-min and Min-hwan for all the backstabbing and cheating that they did to her.

Even after being intimate with Su-min, Min-Hwan works hard to continue as Ji-won’s boyfriend. To prevent Min-hwan from harming Ji-won like in her past life, Ji-hyuk always follows her.

One day, Ji-hyuk sees Ji-won peacefully listening to BTS’ music. Their discussion of the band and their latest songs makes Ji-won realise that Ji-hyuk has also time traveled from the future. She becomes fully convinced when Ji-hyuk shows his blue heart tattoo on his chest.

Ji-hyuk decides to make Ji-won’s life easier and comfortable by removing Su-min and Min-hwan from her life before his death in 2023. Also, he confesses his feelings for her but maintains a distance due to his knowledge about his inevitable death.

To make Su-min jealous of Min-hwan and Ji-won’s relationship, Ji-hyuk decides to help him in secret by supporting him in making the arrangements for proposing to Ji-won. As expected, Su-min becomes jealous when Ji-won accepts Min-hwan’s marriage proposal. Su-min decides to seduce Min-hwan and steal him from Ji-won. Later, Su-min meets Min-hwan in his car and spends time with him.

The next day, Ji-won breaks her engagement with Min-hwan in front of everyone by exposing Min-hwan’s secret relationship with Su-min by showing Su-min’s lingerie that she discovered in Min-hwan’s car.

Ji-won wants Su-min to marry Min-hwan, thinking that her ill fate will transfer to Su-min if the marriage happens. However, Ji-won discovers that her fate has transferred to Yang Ju-ran. The new information makes Ji-won curious about Min-hwan and Su-min’s future, and at the same time, she decides to help Yang Ju-ran recover from cancer.

Min-hwan used to ask Ji-won for money. Therefore, Ji-won breaking off the marriage puts him in a complete dilemma, especially when he is in a financial crisis. To acquire some property from his parents that he was promised to receive after his marriage, it compels him to marry Su-min. Su-min, who has already decided to steal Min-hwan from Ji-won, happily accepts Min-hwan’s marriage request. Nonetheless, destroying Min-hwan’s plan, his parents refuse to hand over the properties soon after his marriage.

When Ji-hyuk and Ji-won start to live the life of a happy romantic couple, Ji-hyuk’s fiancĂ©e Yu-ra appears, disturbing them. Yu-ra does not have real feelings for Ji-hyuk, but Ji-hyuk rejecting her for Ji-won makes Yu-ra jealous. With the help of Min-hwan, Su-min, and Su-min’s greedy parents, Yu-ra creates a truck accident to kill Ji-won. However, Ji-hyuk, who always keeps an eye on Ji-won, saves her from the accident and he becomes hospitalised after the incident.

In the meantime, Yu-ra and Min-hwan fall into a romantic relationship. To destroy the evidence of the accident, Yu-ra decides to kill Su-min’s parents. Also, Min-hwan plans to kill Su-min for insurance money.

When Yu-ra and Min-hwan are discussing their plans after the death of Su-min, she opens the door and sees Yu-ra and Min-hwan cuddling in the bed. An angry Su-min picks a fight with Min-hwan. However, Min-hwan defeats her and takes her to another place. There again, they start to fight, which leads to Min-hwan’s accidental death.

On behalf of Min-hwan’s death, the police start to search for Su-min. Likewise, the police take Yu-ra in custody for attempting to kill Su-min’s parents.

The police catch Su-min when she sneaks into Ji-won’s house to kill her.

Yu-ra, who decides to escape from Korea before being caught by the police, dies in an accident.

The drama ends by showing the happy lives of Ji-won and Ji-hyuk when Su-min spends the rest of her life in prison.
