Kang Jun-kyu is widely known by his stage name Jun.Q who is a South Korean rapper, singer, actor, and model signed to H2 Media. He made his debut with idol Myname on 27 October 2011, with their digital single ‘Message’. He is the lead dancer and the group is composed of five members: Gunwoo, Insoo, Seyong, Jun.Q, and Chaejin.

He debuted in acting with ‘Shinokubo Story’ along with his bandmates. His popular acting credits were in the series ‘Beautiology101’ and starred in the film ‘Saihate Restaurant’. In 2019, he released his debut solo single ‘Firenze’.
Early Life and Education
Jun.Q was born on 9 August 1993 in Uijeongbu. He is the youngest in the family. He was propelled by his homeroom teacher to pursue a career as a singer seeing his talent. He successfully convinced his parents to enrol him into a performance hagwon. Later he shifted to Guro District for high school.
As for his crowded timetables, he had difficulty being a student and a trainee at the same time. Due to his pressed timelines, he had to cut off the communication with his agency. Later, the intriguing stories of his trainee friends inspired him to continue his training and return to the company. He graduated from the School of Performing Arts Seoul (2012).
Career
He was a backup dancer for the South Korean singing duo, ‘Fly to the Sky’, before his debut with Myname. In 2011, he made his debut as a rapper in the idol group Myname. On 27 October they released their debut single ‘Message’. During his school days, he used to model in the school textbooks, after learning of his recognition, he received a conditional agreement from H2 Media to publish photography taken by the company. Myname’s debut song was released in the Japanese-language version, as the introductory single in the country.
The band was engaged and active in the music industry of both countries. Having an interest in acting, he starred in the film ‘Shinokubo Story (2013)’ along with the members of Myname. He played one of five characters seeking to become ‘stars’ narrating the band’s history through the film.Â

By the beginning of 2015, the active band’s performance shrank in South Korea. Jun.Q along with the bandmates Seyong, Chaejin, and Gunwoo participated in the survival competition series ‘The Unit: Idol Rebooting Project’. The members competed to become members of the all-male unit UNB. He was eliminated and was listed at number 24 on the program’s rankings.
He was one of the cast members of OnStyle’s web drama ‘Beautiology101’ (2016) as Du Yi. The movie narrates the story of a female student who is obsessed with natural beauty and events that happen at the fictional K-Beauty School. Jun.Q played the character Eiji in the 2016 Japanese drama ‘Kyabasuka Gakuen’. Along with Ryouta Murai, he starred in the film ‘Saihate Restaurant’ (2019). On 8 November 2019, he released his debut solo single ‘Firenze’. On 22 August 2023, as of his latest projects, he signed a contract with YY Entertainment.
Military Life
Jun.Q was enlisted in the mandatory military service on 11 June 2020. He received his military training at the Korea Army Training Center in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province.
