Biography of Eunbin
Kwon Eun-bin mostly known as Eunbin or Eunbean is a South Korean singer and actress. She participated in the first season of Produce 101 (2016). She debuted as a member of the South Korean girl group CLC in 2016. She made her debut with the group’s third EP ‘Refresh’.
Her acting debut credits include ‘Bad Papa’ (2018), ‘Top Management (2018)’, ‘At a Distance, ‘Spring Is Green’ (2021), ‘Dear. M’ (2022) and ‘Duty After School’ (2023).
Early life and education
Eunbin was born on 6 January 2000 in Seoul. Her father is a photojournalist. She completed her studies at Wonmyong Elementary School, Yangji Elementary School, Onham Middle School, and Hanlim Multi Art School.
Career
On 22 January 2016, Eunbin came to the limelight when she was introduced as a contestant on a Mnet reality girl group survival show Produce 101. The reality show aimed to produce a girl group from a pool of 101 female trainees from 46 companies.
Eunbin represented Cube Entertainment on the reality show along with Jeon So-yeon and Lee Yoon-seo. The former debuted as the leader of (G) I-DLE and the latter as a former trainee at the company. She was eliminated from the show during the tenth episode and was not able to debut as a member of the consequent group, I.O.I.
According to Cube Entertainment, she was to debut with CLC in 2015. Her debut was postponed with the delay of the release of the group’s third EP. Due to the label’s contractual restrictions, she was unable to join the group to promote ‘High Heels’ on music shows. The agency planned to let her join the promotions for ‘High Heels’ if she was eliminated or postponed her activities with CLC.
CLC opened their V Live channel followed by the live broadcast with the whole group. Eunbin was also a part of it and began her full promotional activities as a member of the group with the release of ‘Nu.Clear’ in 2016. She took a break from her activities due to health issues and resumed her activities after recovery.
After her debut with CLC, she has participated in six of the group’s Korean EPs which include their Japanese EPs and three of their singles. In 2018, she contributed rap lyrics to the song ‘Like That’ for the group’s seventh EP ‘Black Dress’. CLC’s activities officially came to an end in 2022.
At the 2018 F/W Hera Seoul Fashion Week Eunbin made her runway debut modelling for Jarret on 21 March 2018. She made her debut as a television actress with the MBC drama series ‘Bad Papa’ playing Kim Sang-ah. She was cast in the YouTube Premium web series, ‘Top Management’. She played the character Eun-bin, a member of the in-show girl group Apple Mint.
Eunbin was one of the supporting cast in the KBS2 drama ‘Beautiful Love, Wonderful Life’. She played the role of Kim Yeon-ah. She left the casting mid-way due to scheduling conflicts, prior to production. She was a part of the TV Chosun’s new sitcom ‘Somehow Family’. After two episodes were aired, the drama was put on hiatus. In 2021, the ‘Somehow Family’ renewed broadcasting on TV Chosun as a fully pre-filmed drama, with Kwon reprising her role as Seong Ha-neul.
In 2020, Eunbin was in the cast of the series ‘Dear.M’. The drama is a spin-off of the popular Korean web drama ‘Love Playlist’. She played the role of Min Yang-hee, a first-year student in the Computer Science Department at Seoyeon University. The series was released on global streaming platforms.
Eunbin appeared in the cast of the KBS2 adaptation of the webtoon ‘At a Distance, Spring Is Green’. She played the role of Wang Young-ran, a fourth-year P.E major at Myeongil University. She played a major role in the TVING’s original sci-fi thriller, ‘Duty After School’. It premiered on 31 March 2023.
