Biography of Yunhyeong

Song Yunhyeong formerly known by the stage name Yunhyeong, is now widely known as Song. He is a South Korean singer, sub-vocalist, visual, centre of the South Korean boy band iKon.

Early Life and Education

Yunhyeong was born on 8 February 1995 in Seoul, South Korea. His family owns a BBQ shop. He has a younger sister named Song Eunjin and she is an ulzzang. He graduated from Hanlim Arts School in 2004 (Department of Broadcasting & Entertainment).

Career

Yunhyeong initially wanted to be an actor but YG Entertainment encouraged him to take vocal lessons. In 2013, Song joined the Mnet reality survival program ‘WIN: Who Is Next’ as a member of Team B. Team A won the reality show and debuted as ‘Winner’, while Team B returned to train under the YG label.

In 2014, YG Entertainment announced the participation of Team B in a second reality survival show, ‘Mix & Match’. The whole Team B, along with Jung Chan-woo, debuted as the boy band iKon in 2015 with six members: Jay, Song, Bobby, DK, and Chan. He became a YG Entertainment trainee in April 2012 and made his debut as a member of iKon in September 2015.

On 30 December 2022, iKon departed from YG Entertainment following the expiration of their contracts with the agency and signed with 143 Entertainment. The group released their third studio album titled ‘Take Off’ in 2023.

Achievements

As a promising and emerging artist, Yunhyeong is the sub-vocalist, visual and centre of the iKon. He has dedicated himself to the band and has not debuted as a solo artist. Maybe in future, he might step into the field of solo artistry.
