Yeo Chang-gu, popularly known by the stage name Yeo One, is a South Korean singer and actor. He debuted in 2016 as the vocalist in the South Korean boy group Pentagon. He is a versatile singer and has also starred in various television dramas.
Early Life and EducationÂ
Yeo One was born on 27 March 1996 in Daejeon Gwangyeoksi Central, South Korea. He has an older sister and participated in various band competitions during his early years.
Career
Yeo One entered in 2013, participating in a special dance performance alongside future bandmates Hui, E’Dawn, and Kino at the KBS Song Festival. The following year, he was featured in G.NA’s ‘Secret’ music video and took part in promotional activities. In 2015, he acted in Beast’s Son Dong-woon’s ‘Kimishika’ music video and modelled with Hyuna for the fashion brand Clride.n.
He began his career through Mnet’s reality survival program, Pentagon Maker, under Mnet’s digital content brand M2. He made his debut on 10 October 2016 as a member of Pentagon on Mnet’s M Countdown, performing the track ‘Gorilla’ from the EP ‘Pentagon.’ The hip-hop song is rich with strong beats and brass sounds.
He made his acting debut as the main cast in the mini-musical web drama ‘Spark’ (2016), starring Na In Woo and Nam Bo Ra. The drama narrates the mysterious nature of how characters are struck by a falling star and emit electricity. The drama was a commercial success, gaining international fans.
In 2017, Yeo One starred as the main character in the musical drama ‘Joseon Beauty Pageant,’ set during the Joseon Dynasty’s first beauty contest. The drama is a visual treat with its traditional music combined with a modern sensation and colourful images.

Yeo One appeared in the TV Chosun entertainment drama ‘Somehow Family’ as a fictionalized version of himself. The series was suspended after two episodes due to the non-remittance of the staff.
Later, the drama continued its production, but due to clashing schedules, Shin Won-ho of Cross Gene replaced Yeo One. He also participated in the comedy musical ‘Something Rotten!’ cast as Nigel Bottom. Additionally, he was chosen as the cover model for the September 2020 edition of Men’s Health Korea.
In 2021, he starred in the web drama ‘Nickname Pine Leaf’ for the SBS YouTube channel yogurD. In 2022, he was featured in the KBS2 drama ‘If You Wish Upon Me.’ The drama is inspired by real life and unfolds the realization and emotional journey of a young man who joins hospice and ends up fulfilling the last wishes of hospice patients. He also starred in the web series ‘There is an Idol in My Living Room’ as a fictionalized version of himself.
It was announced on October 6, 2023, that along with Pentagon members Wooseok, Yuto, Kino, and Yan An, Yeo One left Cube Entertainment to pursue his solo career. On 25 November 2023, he held his first solo fan concert.
