Synopsis
Choi Jun-Woong (Rowoon) is an unemployed man who always fails to secure a job despite his efforts. One day, he attends an interview that he is sure to secure, but he gets rejected due to the influence of the director’s relative. Feeling disheartened, he contemplates his life’s decisions with his friend over drinks. On his way home, he stumbles upon a man trying to commit suicide. He meets Ryeon and Ryung-Gu, two grim reapers while trying to save the man. He accidentally falls into the water in the process.
Jun-woong wakes up in the hospital and finds his body lying in a comatose state. Ryeon appears and offers to escort him to ‘Jumadeung’, the underworld, to meet the ‘Emperor’. There, he faces a choice between working for six months in Jumadeung and waking up, or not working and waking up in three years.
With the offer to secure any job in any company after waking up, he chooses to work there for six months and begins to observe different departments in ‘Jumadeung’. Later, he decides to be a part of the Crisis Management Team, led by Ryeon. The team’s main objective is to help out and save suicidal people, prevent them from killing themselves, and sort out the belongings left behind by the deceased while ensuring that their final wishes are fulfilled.
As Jun-woong adjusts to his new surroundings, he uncovers the heartbreaking stories of the people they are trying to save. He begins to see the world in a different light, and his experiences in the ‘Jumadeung’ lead him to re-examine his own life choices. He learns to empathize with the deceased and gains a deeper understanding of the value of life. As the team works to save their clients, they also confront their own demons and come to terms with their past traumas.
