Synopsis

The series opens with Joseph (Lee Sang-woon), a charming and pleasant fashion designer delivering a highly prestigious fashion show, eager to impress Ahn Nam-hee (Choi Hee-jin), the editor-in-chief of the biggest and most popular fashion magazine in Korea. Another character is introduced, Ye Seon-ho (Park Hee-jung), Joseph’s featured supermodel and his friend who is ready to display his showstopper piece in the finale.

Seon-ho struggles to find work as a runway model due to new, young supermodels being more in demand. Backstage, two of his other friends meet, Pyo Ji-eun and Ji Woo-min, who also happen to be exes. Woo-min is Ji-eun’s ex-boyfriend who works as a freelance photographer and he is photographing the event.

Pyo Ji-eun (Chae Soo-bin) works as a public relations manager at one of Korea’s prominent luxury fashion brands Audrey. She comes to the fashion show to cheer up Joseph and she introduces her current boyfriend Lee Nam-jin (Choi Won-myeong) to Woo-min. Nam-jin is a rich CEO of a big fashion brand.

On that night after the fashion show, the four spend the night together. The next day, Ji-eun is furious and disappointed and she leaves his apartment and heads to meet her boyfriend Nam-jin, but her bad luck continues as he breaks up with her, citing their different interests in life.

With her personal life in a mess, she focuses on the difficulties of her work life as she faces many struggles. She works tirelessly to keep up with the high demands of the fashion industry and its changing trends. The firm Audrey needs JD, a popular star to wear one of their pieces for her pictorial. The editor-in-chief Ahn Nam-hee (Choi Hee-jin) who is handling the pictorial supposedly has problems with the firm and Ji-eun has to convince her. The pictorial was a success, with JD wearing Audrey’s jewellery and Ahn Nam-hee starting to develop a soft corner for Ji-eun.

One day, the model Seon-ho went into a fight with other models and they ended up bruising each other. Literally after this fight, her boyfriend berates her for it, this incident makes her understand that he probably doesn’t want the relationship anymore. However, after breaking up with her designer boyfriend and being blacklisted by popular companies and magazines, she struggles to find work and continue her career.

Meanwhile, Nam-jin meets Ji-eun and tells her that he broke up with her just to test whether she really liked him or just stayed with him only because of his stature. Nam-jin now wants her back as he believes that she is a woman of virtue. Elsewhere, Joseph is worried about the lack of agencies wanting to work with him, as he is not yet popular. However, things seem better when a fashion stylist Hong Ji-seon (Lee Mi-do) buys 89 pieces from his show.

Later, Joseph designed beautiful bags and he set up a pop-up store to showcase his products. Meanwhile, Ji-eun escorts Thierry Henri (Lim Ki-hong), a chief designer of the luxury brand Erlane, who is back in Korea. Thierry Henri shows up at Joseph’s pop-up store, which is a huge hit.

Meanwhile, Woo-min finds ways to tell Ji-eun that he loves her, he finds an old hangout and uses this place to set up an exhibition with pictures of Ji-eun that he has taken over the years. By this time, Ji-eun has broken up with Nam-jin because she has realized that, despite liking each other, they have two different worlds in which being with him forces her to change herself, even if he doesn’t ask for it. Following the break up, she is now free to do what she wants and gives in to her desire to be with Woo-min. The exes are finally together again.

Joseph is offered a job as the creative director of Thierry Henri brand. But he declines, as he wants to stay back in Korea and work on building his brand with his assistant Esther (Lee Si-woo). With interference from his mother, the offer is revamped and he is offered to work on his own thing independently while being the creative director of Thierry Henri’s company in Korea.

Meanwhile, Ye Seon-ho is offered some work from her ex-boyfriend. Seon-ho initially hesitates but agrees with it when she realizes that she doesn’t want to give up on being a model after all. She decides to try her luck again and signs up with an agency in New York, as there isn’t much for her to do in Korea anymore.

Ending Explained

It’s time for Joseph’s brand EARLAINE’s launch, and he doesn’t feel like anything he has done is up to the mark. Ji-eun encourages him as a friend. The firm Audrey is handling the event and Ji-eun’s remarkable effort in marketing is recognized by other companies, therefore she gets a job offer. Ji-eun decides to continue working for Audrey because she loves her job and who she works for.

Seon-ho decides to take her career to the next level and fulfil her dream of modeling in all the major cities working with the best designers. The friends are happily walking by when Ji-eun gets a call. It’s another emergency at her work, and the friends laugh, knowing that they will be each other’s unwavering support forever.
