Biography of Son Ye-jin
Early Life and Education
Son Ye-jin was born on 11 January 1982 in Suseong District, Daegu, South Korea as the daughter of Yeon Soon-son and Yoon Bok-jeon. She has an older sister. She completed her schooling at Suseong Elementary School, Beomil Middle School and Junghwa Girls’ High School. She majored in film at the Seoul Institute of the Arts.
Career
Son Ye-jin made her entry to the entertainment field after dubbing for Jung Mi-jo in Park Ki-hyung’s film, ‘Secret Tears’ in 2000. She made her small-screen debut as the female lead in ‘Delicious Proposal’ in 2001. She was lucky enough to star in a high-profile role in a South Korean drama film, ‘Chi-hwa-seon’, which even screened at Cannes.
Son Ye-jin became a Hallyu star after successfully acting in the films, ‘Lovers’ Concerto’ in 2002 and ‘The Classic’ in 2003. She was the lead cast in the television drama, ‘Summer Scent’, the third instalment of the season-themed tetralogy ‘Endless Love’.
In 2004, Son Ye-jin earned tremendous popularity in East Asian countries, especially in Japan with the drama, ‘A Moment to Remember’, based on a popular Japanese series, which gained box office records globally. Next year, she appeared in a South Korean romantic hit drama film, ‘April Snow’, co-starring Bae Yong-joon. Her pure and innocent image earned her the name, “Nation’s First Love” in Korea.
After starring in the lead role in the South Korean television series, ‘Alone in Love’ in 2006, the beautiful Son Ye-jin became the highest-paid Korean actor after earning a talent fee of KRW 5O million per episode for this particular drama.
Son Ye-jin appeared in the roles of the con artist in her films and dramas, ‘Spotlight’, ‘Open City’, and ‘My Wife Got Married’ between 2005 and 2008.

After taking a short break from the television drama, the stunning actor returned to the small screen in 2013, with the revenge drama, ‘Shrak’, also known as ‘Don’t Look Back: The Legend of Orpheus’. This series is the third instalment of the revenge trilogy following the 2005 drama, ‘Resurrection’ and ‘The Devil’ in 2007.
In 2014, Son Ye-jin appeared in the period adventure film, ‘The Pirates’, co-starring Kim Nam-gil, which was a commercial success and she garnered the Best Actress award at the ‘Grand Bell Awards’. In the following year, she appeared in the 2015 suspense crime action comedy film, ‘Bad Guys Always Die’, starring opposite Taiwanese actor Chen Bolin.
In 2016, she was seen in a political thriller, ‘The Truth Beneath’, for which she received critical acclaim for her performance. The actor appeared in the biography film, ‘The Last Princess’ where she portrayed Princess Deokhye, which became a box office success and drew positive reviews from the critics.
In 2018, the bold and beautiful actor Son Ye-jin co-starred with So Ji-sub in the romantic film, ‘Be With You’, which is based on a Japanese novel of the same name.

Although Son Ye-jin was scheduled to have her Hollywood debut in 2022 ‘The Cross’, her agency requested a delay in filming because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
