Synopsis
Ok Chan-mi (Shin Ye-eun) is an orphan girl from Busan who moves to Seoul to investigate her twin brother’s death. Her brother was adopted by two rich people and brought to Seoul when he was a child. Despite the police ruling it as suicide, Chan-mi is convinced that her brother was murdered after talking to him through a video call right before his death.
As Chan-mi starts her new life in Seoul, she meets Ji Soo-heon, who works part-time to support himself and pay his sick mother’s medical bills. After a dizzy spell on his motorcycle, he ends up in the hospital and learns that he has a brain tumour and only six months to live. He also acts as a hero to seek revenge for the victims of bullies.
Chan-mi is determined to uncover the truth about her brother’s death. She enrolls in her deceased brother’s school, where she becomes a shooting player for the sports team. She also meets Seok Jae-beom, a rich student who re-joins the same school after an accident and memory loss, and his arrival sparks curiosity and suspicion among the staff and students.
Meanwhile, Chan-mi befriends Da-yeon, who helps her navigate her new school and provides information about her brother’s girlfriend, Hong Ajung. Chan-mi manages to obtain Hong Ajung’s contact number, but she discovers that Soo-heon has her phone and is hiding a secret.
One day, Chan-mi and Soo-heon unexpectedly find themselves in the same room where her brother died, and Chan-mi starts to suspect him. However, eventually, they form a bond as they both try to find closure for their respective losses.
Ending Explained
Chan-mi finally discovered who killed her brother and was surprised to learn it was Jae-beom, whom she considered her friend. However, the suspicion about another student O-sung hasn’t left them yet as Soo-heon makes sure to track his movements. Chan-mi later finds out that her brother was gay and that O-sung had caught him kissing his boyfriend and threatened him. O-sung also manipulated Jae-beom, with multiple personality disorders, to kill Chanmi’s brother.
Jae-beom admitted to his wrongdoing and turned himself in to the police. Meanwhile, Soo-heon and O-sung got into a fight on the school terrace, and O-sung accidentally fell to his death. Some students blamed Soo-heon for the accident. Looking at the student’s opinion about Soo-heon, Min Seon-ha, a student who was sexually assaulted by a bully in school reveals that Soo-heon is the Hero who helped her take revenge and asks everyone not to portray him in a bad light.
As the news of O-sung’s manipulations and wrongdoings spread through the school, the students found out that he had gaslit Jae-beom into killing Chan-mi’s brother and committed other bad deeds. This shocked everyone and no one revealed Soo-heon’s presence on the roof on the day of O-sung’s death. The investigation officers realised what had happened but chose to ignore it, ending the case.
The story then shifted to graduation, where everyone was taking pictures except for Soo-heon, who left midway to live his life to the fullest. Chan-mi revealed that she succeeded in getting into the marines, and the two of them left hand in hand as their story came to an end.
Sexual Harassment and Bullying in Schools: The Key Issue Addressed in Revenge of Others
Throughout the series, Chan-mi and her friends discover evidence of bullying and sexual harassment taking place at their school. They witness students being subjected to cruel treatment, including physical abuse and emotional manipulation. Chan-mi’s brother was also a victim of such bullying, which ultimately led to his death.
As the characters work to uncover the truth about Chan-mi’s brother’s death, they also become involved in the fight against bullying and sexual harassment. They take a stand against the perpetrators, exposing their actions and seeking justice for the victims.
The drama highlights the emotional toll that these issues can have on those who experience them, as well as their loved ones. It also shows the importance of standing up for what is right, even when it may be difficult or dangerous to do so. Overall, the series provides a thought-provoking and impactful exploration of the impact of bullying and sexual harassment on individuals and society as a whole.
