She was born on 3 February 1992 and raised in Changwon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do province in South Korea. She grew up with her parents as the oldest of three. She has one brother and one sister and both were younger than Ye-jin.
She graduated from Baekseok Art College with an Associate Degree in Flight Service in 2011 and participated in a highly competitive flight attendant examination. Later from 2011 to 2013, she worked as a flight attendant in South Korea’s largest airline Korean Air. At 19, Pyo Ye-jin was admired as a charming stewardess of Korean Air.
Although she loved her job, she thought of quitting this profession because it was stifling and wanted to express her true potential, so she pursued acting. Initially, her parents were against her decision to quit a stable job and they were anxious about her idea of chasing her dream to become an actress. She even wrote a letter to her parents explaining her decision and it took a few months to convince her father.
After resigning, upon being unable to give up her dreams as an actress, she worked hard and just a couple of years later, made her acting debut with a small role in MBC‘s television series ‘Here Comes Mr. Oh’ in 2012.
