Biography of Kang Tae-oh
Early Life and Education
Kang Tae-oh, also known by his birth name as Kim Yoon-hwan, was born in Incheon, South Korea on June 20, 1994. His family consists of his parents and an older brother and two cats called Tata and Nana.
Ever since he was in elementary school, Tae-oh had made up his mind to seek a profession in acting. He began participating in the school’s theatrical club in fifth grade. In middle school, he excelled in a youth film production competition. Later, he received his degree from Konkuk University’s Film Department. His parents initially opposed his desire to pursue a career in acting. After seeing his enthusiasm, they eventually accepted his wish.
Career and Achievements
Tae-oh began his career with ‘5urprise’ – an actor-singer group formed by the talent agency ‘Fantagio’. He went through several auditions before getting a contract with ‘Fantagio’. He had a winning ratio of 2,000:1 when he joined the agency.
Together with the other members of 5urprise, he made his acting debut in the 2013 web series ‘After School: Lucky or Not.’ Later, in 2015, he appeared in supporting roles in the MBC weekend drama ‘Flower of Queen’.
He also gained attention in Vietnam by starring in the Korean-Vietnamese co-production drama ‘Forever Young’.
Tae-oh began appearing in the KBS historical drama ‘The Tale of Nokdu’ in 2019, which helped him gain popularity for his performance. In the same year, he also made a guest appearance as one of the character’s ex-boyfriends in the MBC drama ‘Love with Flaws’. He then made an appearance in the Netflix original series ‘My First First Love.’
Tae-oh co-starred with Choi Soo-young as an art student in the 2020 JTBC drama ‘Run On’. His contract with ‘Fantagio’ agency expired during that same year. So he transferred to ‘Man of Creation’ (M.O.C.), an agency founded by former agency executives.
Tae-oh made appearances in the one-act drama ‘Drama Special – The Effect of One Night on Farewell’ and the drama ‘Doom at Your Service’ in 2021.
In the drama ‘Thirty-Nine’ in 2022, Kang made a guest appearance as Lee Tae- hwan’s friend.
His recent drama, ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’, is streaming on Netflix. In this drama, he plays the role of ‘Lee Jun-ho’, a popular employee at the law firm who works closely with a young lawyer with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
