Biography of Ju-ne
Koo Jun-hoe, widely known by the stage name Ju-ne, is a South Korean singer, actor, main vocalist, and member of the boy group iKon under 143 Entertainment. He has appeared on survival programmes ‘WIN: Who Is Next’ and ‘Mix & Match’ in 2013 and 2014.
Early Life & Education
Ju-ne was born on 31 March 1997 in Seoul, South Korea. He has an older sister, Yeijin. In March 2009, he made his first television appearance as ’13-year-old Michael Jackson’ on SBS’ Star King.
In 2011, he appeared on the first season of SBS’ K-pop Star. In April 2012, following his elimination, he was scouted by YG Entertainment and joined as a trainee.
Career
In 2013, Ju-ne joined the Mnet reality survival program ‘WIN: Who Is Next’ as a member of Team B. Team A won the reality show and debuted as Winner, while Team B returned to train under the YG label. In 2014, YG Entertainment announced the participation of Team B in a second reality survival show, ‘Mix & Match’. The whole Team B, along with Jung Chan-woo, debuted in the boy band iKon in 2015 with six members: B.I, Jay, Song, Bobby, DK, and Chan.
On 15 September 2015, the band debuted and released the single ‘My Type’ along with the lead singles ‘Rhythm Ta’ and ‘Airplane’. Ju-ne was a part of the production of the single ‘Rhythm Ta’. On 4 October 2015, the band made their first music show appearance on SBS’ Inkigayo. The single ‘My Type’ was admired by many and received its third win.
In 2021, Ju-ne received his first big-screen acting debut in a supporting role in the film ‘Even If I Die Again’. The following year, Jun-ne had a supporting role in the drama ‘Bo-ra! Deborah’, starring Yoon Hyun-min, Joo Sang-wook, Hwang Chan-sung, and Park So-jin. He played the role of Yang Jin-ho, who is a young man in his 20s who’s an all-rounder in sports, singing and cooking.
In 2021, Ju-ne collaborated with Bobby and released the single ‘Raining’ from the album ‘Lucky Man’. For the drama series, ‘Bo-ra! Deborah’ released the OST titled ‘Accidental Love’. His composition credits were notable for ‘Like a Movie’ and ‘Want You Back’ from the album ‘Take Off’. He made his English debut in collaboration with Soulbysel with ‘Night Flight’. His first official solo song, ‘Want You Back’, was from iKon’s third full album.
