Early Life and Education

Career
Hwang Jung-eum began her entertainment career in 2001 after joining as a lead vocalist in the pop music group, ‘Sugar’. Even so, she left the music group in 2004 to pursue a solo career. In 2005, Jung-eum appeared in a music video, ‘SG Wannabe’.
The extremely talented actor Jung-eum appeared in a cameo role in her debut in the television series, ‘Princess Lulu’ by Son Jung-hyun in 2005. The same year, she was cast in a South Korean mid-drama series, ‘Match! Reverse Drama’.
After two years in 2007, Jung-eum played the role of Lee Jung-min in the television series, ‘The Person I Love’. She was seen in one more television series, ‘Winter Bird’ as Jin-ah in the same year. She was also a guest star in the third season of ‘Happy Together’. Soon after she appeared in the second season of the reality show ‘We Got Married’ along with her then-boyfriend Kim Yong-jun.
Hwang Jung-eum made her big-screen debut in 2009 as Eun-bin in the South Korean-Japanese film, ‘The Relation of Face, Mind and Love’, starring Kang Ji-hwan and Lee Ji-ah in the lead roles. She was also featured in the music videos of Kim Jong-wook and Ock Joo-hyun.
She made her first lead appearance on television series in 2010 with the drama, ‘Giant’, co-starring Lee Beom-soo, Park Jin-hee, Joo Sang-wook, Park Sang-min, and Jeong Bo-seok in the lead roles. Jung-eum played the role of Park Eun-su in a 2010 South Korean slasher film, ‘Death Bell 2: Bloody Camp’.
Additionally, the stunning actor did some variety shows in the same year, including ‘Strong Heart, ‘Running Man’, ‘Ultra Fashion with Hwang Jung-eum’, ‘Haha-Mong Show’ and ‘Come to Play’. In 2011, Jung-eum was cast in a 2011 South Korean television series, ‘Listen to My Heart’, as Bong Woo-ri, co-starring Kim Jaewon and Namkoong Min in the lead roles.
From 2011 to 2012, she appeared in a South Korean sitcom, ‘High Kick: Revenge of the Short Legged’ by Kim Byung-wook, Park Soon-tae, Jo Chan-joo and Kim Yeong-gi. In 2012, Jung-eum appeared in two television series, ‘Golden Time’ as Kang Jae-in and in ‘Full House Take 2’ as Jang Man-ok/Michelle Jang.

Her second cameo role came in 2013, in the television series, ‘Potato Star 2013QR3’ by Kim Byung-wook. In the same year, Jung-eum was the lead cast in the South Korean television series, ‘Secret Love’, co-starring Ji Sung, Bae Soo-bin and Lee Da-hee.
In the 2014 South Korean television series, ‘Endless Love’, by Lee Hyun-jik, Jung-eum played the lead role alongside the ensemble cast Ryu Soo-young and Jung Kyung-ho. Jung-eum was Oh Ri-jin in the 2015 South Korean television series, ‘Kill Me, Heal Me’ and as Kim Hye-jin in the series, ‘She Was Pretty’ alongside Park Seo-joon.
Hwang Jung-eum’s third film came in 2015 with the film, ‘My Sister, the Pig Lady’, by Jang Moon-il, which won Grand Prize at the Osaka Asian Film Festival in the same year.
In 2016, Jung-eum played alongside Ryu Jun-yeol in the lead role, in the South Korean television series, ‘Lucky Romance’, based on a webtoon of the same name. Her role as Shim Bo-nui gained her prominence in her acting career.
After two years, Jung-eum was cast as Yoo Jung-eum, alongside Namkoong Min in prominent roles in the film, ‘The Undateables’, by Kim Yoo-jin in 2018.
In 2020, the South Korean star then appeared in two television series, starring in prime roles in ‘Mystic Pop-up Bar’ as Weol-ju alongside Yook Sung-jae and Choi Won-young and in ‘Men Are Men’ as Seo Hyun-ju, co-starring Yoon Hyun-min, Seo Ji-hoon, Choi Myung-gil and Jo Woo-ri.
The upcoming South Korean television series, ‘7 Escape’ co-starring Um Ki-joon, Lee Joon, Lee Yu-bi, Shin Eun-kyung, Yoon Jong-hoon, and Jo Yoon-hee is the latest project of the astounding actor, Jung-eum as of 2023.

Jung-eum appeared as a goodwill ambassador for multiple events and programmes to date, including Angel (1004) Day, Korea Medical Assistance Foundation, Korea Medical Assistance Foundation, Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival and Busan International Advertising Festival, to name a few.

Apart from these, Jung-eum has also received several awards during her entertainment career. She won the ‘Excellence Award’, Actress in a Miniseries’ at the MBC Drama Awards function.

Jung-eum won the Outstanding Korean Actress Award’ at the 10th Seoul International Drama Awards function.

Personal Life

After one year of relationship, the couple got married on 26 February 2016 at Hotel Shilla, Seoul. Hwang Jung-eum gave birth to a baby boy on 15 August 2017.
Although the couple had a plan to separate after four years of married life, they later changed their decision and stuck to their relationship. C-JeS Entertainment revealed on 12 October 2021 about her second pregnancy and she gave birth to a son on 16 March 2022.
