Synopsis
Kang Woo-ram is a handsome athlete and a foodie who is trying to secure a job. He once had a progressive career in wrestling. However, he left his passion for wrestling when his coach became sick and a wrestler turned against him. In search of a new job, he leaves his place and moves to a distant town.
In the new town, the owner of a gay bar hires him as a bouncer. Impressed by the physique of Kang Woo-ram, the bar owner assigns him to collect the debts given to a group of thugs. The task of collecting money from the thugs is just a piece of cake for him because of his well-built body and wrestling skills.
By applying his long-used wrestling skills on the thugs, he collects the money from the goons. However, the gang takes their revenge on him at night and he gets injured at the back of his head. He pities himself for getting beaten up by a group of thugs. After recovering from the daze of the attack, he traipses to a restaurant that he gets his sight on.
There he meets Lee Hyun-ji. She serves as a waitress at ‘Burger from Heaven’ restaurant. Woo-ram is drawn by her beauty. He orders double patty burgers which is on the “buy one get one” offer. He becomes a daily customer at ‘Burger from Heaven’. Despite his daily visits, he is too timid to talk to her.
Lee Hyun-ji also notices him but feels shy to make an acquaintance with the new customer. Seeing Hyun-ji work hard to balance her work-life and education, Woo-ram feels respectful towards her.
On the day when he hears about the death news of his coach, he heads towards the restaurant drunken and depressed. Tipsy, he hits his head on a wall. Seeing the wrecked Woo-ram, Hyun-ji takes him home.
With her motivation, he gains the courage to move forward and fight his insecurities. He goes to his hometown to attend the funeral of his deceased coach. The strong support of Hyun-ji makes Woo-ram pursue his dreams. He takes up his ambition to become a wrestler and wins several matches.
Meanwhile, Hyun-ji focuses on her own career. She attends numerous exams and appears for many screening tests. In one of the screening interviews, she expresses her genuine feelings and views. The rightfulness in her words convinces the judges and she gets into the final round.
On the other hand, Woo-ram fails the wrestling match with his arch-enemy. However, they announce a rematch to settle the chaos. Hyun-ji reads about the rematch in the newspaper. She reaches the destination to cheer Woo-ram.
Hyun-ji’s presence boosts the confidence of Woo-ram and he defeats his enemy in the fight. After winning the match, Hyun-ji and Woo-ram share an affectionate smile. After figuring out their passion, Woo-ram joins the mandatory military service and Hyun-ji now works as a field reporter.
One day, when the superiors in the army discuss about a man who munched down two double patty burgers, Woo-ram listens to their conversations while enjoying his burger and watching Hyun-ji on TV.

‘Double Patty’ is an inspiring and heartwarming movie about the life of two youngsters, Kang Woo-ram and Lee Hyun-ji. The film shows the hurdles that they encounter on their way to success and a happy life. In the movie, Kang Woo-ram is a man who lost the direction of his life. However, when he sees Hyun-ji struggling to achieve her dreams, he starts to respect her. Later, Hyun-ji becomes the pole star of his life, helping him to drive in the correct direction. The movie beautifully captures the adorable moments of the couple supporting each other. Besides, the movie explicitly shows the relief and motivation that one gets from an understanding partner.
