Biography of Changmo

Ku Chang-mo is a South Korean rapper and producer popularly known as Changmo. On 18 March 2016, he released his debut album titled ‘M O T O W N’. He in 2016 joined Dok2 (South Korean rapper, record producer and co-founder of Illionaire Records) and Ambition Musik, The Quiet’s sub-label.

Early Life and Education

Changmo was born on 31 May 1994 in Jeongseon County, South Korea. He has a younger sister. He completed his education at Deoko High School, South Korea. When he was 18, he applied for a scholarship at Berklee College of Music, Boston, Massachusetts, but failed to obtain a scholarship.

Career

On 7 January 2014, Changmo released his first mixtape titled ‘Time to Get Money’ and on 21 October 2014 he released his second Mixtape ‘Ready to Be a Star#DBJB’. His first Studio album was titled ‘Boyhood’ under the label, Ambition Musik, which topped 13 in the KOR chart positions. He released his second studio album ‘Underground Rockstar’ under the label, Ambition Musik and Genie Music on 11 November 2021.

Changmo released his first extended play ‘M O T O W N’ under the label Luminant Entertainment on 18 March 2016. His second EP was titled ‘Time to Earn Money 2’ released on 21 July 2016 and in the same year he released another EP titled ‘Time to Earn Money 3’ on 15 December 2016. On 24 May 2017 he released ‘Gettin Money Moment’ on under the label Ambition Musik, CJ E&M. He released his Extended play ‘Reached Moment’ on 11 June 2018. In 2014, he was the lead artist in the single ‘Gangster’ featuring LiVii, the Korean R&B and Hip-Hop solo artist.

In 2016, Changmo released his single ‘WANG’ from the album ‘M O T O W N’, ‘Cigarette’, ‘Maestro’ from ‘Time To Earn Money 2’ and the two singles ‘Rockstar’ and ‘Bling!’ from the album ‘Time to Earn Money 3’. In 2017, he released the single ‘One More Rollie’ featuring Keem Hyo-eun, the South Korean rapper under AMBITION MUSIK and Hash Swan, another South Korean rapper. ‘Inkigayo’ featuring The Quiett, South Korean rapper composer, lyricist and record producer and DoK2 from the album ‘Gettin Money Moment’. He released his single ‘Holy God’ from the album ‘Reached Moment’ (DNSG).

His single ‘Meteor’ from the album ‘Boyhood’ topped the KOR chart and the Korean Music Copyright Association charted it with double platinum. His other singles from the same album include ‘Da Wero’ and ‘Remedy’ featuring Chungha, the South Korean singer, dancer, and choreographer. From the album ‘Bipolar’, he released his singles ‘Countain My Guap’ and ‘Swoosh Flow’ in 2020. From the album ‘Underground Rockstar’, he released his singles ‘Moraesigye’, ‘Taiji’ and ‘Hyperstar’ in 2021. In 2022, he released his single ‘Just the Two of Us’ from the Non-album single.

Changmo not only released singles and EP’s, he is an celebrated and recognised artist for his collaborations. His first collaboration was with Hyolyn for the single ‘Blue Moon’, which ranked number three on the KOR Chart. He released his two collaborations titled ‘Beer’ and ‘Band’ in 2019. In 2020, he released ‘Pay Day’ collaborating with Ash Island, Junggigo and KozyPop, Gray.

Changmo was the featured artist for the single ‘I came to Hustle’ in 2015, from the album ‘Gaduation’. In 2017, his featuring credits include ‘Forgive Me’, ‘Are You With Me?’, ‘Ambition and Vision’, ‘Wine’, ‘Too Cold’, ‘Money on the Floor’, ‘La La La’, ‘Blame’. In 2018, Nakloon along with him featured in the single ‘SaimSaim’ and Superbee, Changmo, Paul Blanco featured in the single ‘Hundred Million’ in 2018 from the album ‘Show Me the Money 777’. For the albums ‘Rap Legend 2’ and ‘Play’ he collaborated with Superbee, Paul Blanco for the single ‘Selfmade Orange 2’ and with Chungha for the single ‘Play’.

In 2017, prominent artists Dark, Trade L, Young Chens & Baegie, producer Way Ched and Changmo featured in the single ‘Backpack’ in 2021 from the album ‘High School Rapper 4’.He appeared in the soundtrack appearances of ‘Put It Down’ featuring DoK2 and Keem Hyo-eun in 2016. In 2017, he appeared in ‘I’m All Ears’ and ‘I always’. Changmo was also a part of songs like ‘Beautiful’ (2016), ‘Selfmade Orange’ (2018), ‘Wish’ (2019).
