Biography of Bloo

Kim Hyeon-ung, mononymously known as Bloo, is a South Korean rapper. He has released three full-length albums, ‘Bloo in Wonderland 2’, which was released on 17 June 2021 under the label ADA Korea. The second album was titled ‘Moon and Back’ in 2021. The third was titled ‘Fox and the City’ which was released in 2023. He also released his extended play titled ‘Downtown Baby’ in 2017, ‘Bloo in Wonderland’ in 2018 and ‘It’s Not Love I’m Just Drunk’ in 2019.

The single ‘Downtown Baby’ was the celebrated hit and topped all the South Korean music charts in June 2020. The single gained its recognition and popularity after it was performed by the singer Lee Hyori on the variety show Hangout With Yoo.

Early Life and Education

Bloo was born in South Korea on 12 October 1994 but later moved to Los Angeles, US.

Career

Bloo grew up listening to American hip-hop. He started rapping at a young age and went by the stage name Daniel Prynne. He initially joined the crew of the Korean-American hip-hop community called Young Creation.

Later, the Young Creation dissolved and he formed Crew42 along with members Nafla, Young Creation and other rappers like Ap, Neil, the forehand and Loopy. The very crew laid the foundation for the label MKIT Rain, which was co-founded by Nafla and Loopy.

In 2016, the crew officially launched MKIT Rain, with the introduction of the new member Owen Ovadoz. The same year in August, they officially introduced themselves by releasing their collaborative track titled ‘Weathermen’.

Kim Hyeon-ung adopted the stage name Bloo in 2016 and was the first member to launch solo projects under their label. He made his debut titled ‘Fresh As F’, the swag-heavy trap. The first official album Bloo made under the label MKIT Rain was titled ‘Tony’. The album had six tracks which were influenced by the West Coast culture.

On 17 June 2021 he released his first studio album titled ‘Bloo in Wonderland 2’ under the label MKIT Rain. He released his second studio album titled ‘Moon and Back’ on 28 October 2021 under the label Uncutpoint. He released his extended play titled ‘Downtown Baby’ on 6 December 2017 under his own label.

On 19 November 2018, he released his second extended play ‘BLOO IN WONDERLAND’ and his third extended play ‘It’s Not Love I’m Just Drunk’ on 25 September 2025.

In 2016, he released his single ‘Drive Thru’ and in 2017, ‘Better’ and ‘Hennessy’ from the non-album singles. The same year he released his single ‘Downtown Baby’, from the album of the same name which was a successful megahit that topped number one on the KOR chart.

In 2018, he released his single ‘Drink Slow Henny’ and ‘So Rude’ along with ‘Take Me’ featuring Nafla and ‘I’m the One’ from the album ‘BLOO IN WONDERLAND’.

From the album ‘It’s Not Love I’m Just Drunk’ he released his single ‘boyfromthemoon’ and ‘Haru Achim’ in 2019. The following year he released the single ‘When I Smoke’. In 2021, he released three singles ‘Drama’, ‘Bloo Story’, ‘Come and Kiss Me’ from the album ‘Bloo in Wonderland 2’.

Apart from his albums and singles, he has released multiple collaborations with prominent artists. In 2016, he released his collaborative single ‘Weathermen’ with Loopy , Nafla, Owen. From the album ‘Henry and Jamie’ Bloo collaborated with Niahn (Neonblue) for the single ‘You and I’ and with Loopy, Nafla, Owen, Young West for the single ‘Public Enemy’ in 2018.

In 2019, he released his two collaborative singles ‘NBA’ with Loopy, Nafla and Candle with XBf. He released his collaborative single with Owen Ovadoz titled ‘Businessmen’ in 2020.
